One of the more disgraceful acts you will see.

Night hawk.

I find it hard to believe that he elbowed him from BEHIND and broke his jaw?

I guess we'll let the tribunal decide.

I saw a king hit (cowards punch) but it wasn't from a United player. A Balak player ran from 10 metres away and landed a coward punch to a United player who had his back to him. Very lucky there was no damage done. Maybe Onsong could explain this????

I didn't see what happened to young Mitch Daniel as I was probably 50-60 metres away. I believe it was intended as a block to break the tag (Mitch was tagging Pym) that got slightly high. Having said that I hope that Daniel has the best treatment and recovery that he can and hopefully see him playing footy again soon.

Balaklava were too good for us on Saturday and deserved their win, I guess we may have a pretty tough slog at training this week, we certainly deserve it.

Just to be clear, that was an accident in a rucking contest. Nothing untoward about that. Mind you, the spray he have his teammates and trainer was somewhat bizzare.

It was a lot more than bizzare!

That sort of justification is disappointing MC. Having watched this guy play, I can't see why a club would have/want him. Surely there must be others on the market that play clean hard footy and are as good.

I saw the whole thing unfold in front of me.
Drainer was amped up for some reason, went straight at Mitch and I, like you, thought he was going to try and bump him.
But he didn't. He raised his elbow and hit him flush on the jaw and Mitch just dropped.
I don't know what others would have done but I went after Drainer to remonstrate but he kept running for the cover of the pack.
I pursued him but he wouldn't turn around. Sort of like a coward would do after whacking someone in the face for no real reason.
For a bloke looking for a fight, he suddenly had little interest in standing his ground and having a dip.
I didn't land anything on him as he was always moving away from me, just pushed him a few times and by then the pack had formed.
There's a few knockers above banging on about my part, yourself included MC, which is crap. I expected better from you to be honest.
I've played A grade for 11 years and have a clean record. I'm not a violent player and rarely involve myself in violence etc.
You know for me to arc up, it has to be something of a dog act and what I saw Saturday ranked up there as the worst I've seen.
I had two options: Let him slink off without response or try and engage him in retaliation.
I tried to engage him but he kept running away. I'm not sure why as he'd probably have more opportunities to knock more people out, as I can't fight that well.

Anyway, got a lot of time for United as a club in general. It'll get sorted out one way or another.
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

Let me get this straight LC, its no justification, if you read the bit in front of the bold section it says I didn't see it. What I wrote is what I was told by a few players to me well after the game.

To be brutally honest I didn't know anything about the whole thing until about 9:30 that night when I was exhausted from giving Ricky Thomas a flogging at table tennis in Pym's shed and I checked my phone for results of the day and also checked this forum to realise there was anything in it.

Maybe I should pay more attention during games, but I use most of my concentration powers trying to put one foot in front of the other.

I can only go by what I personally saw and that was this bit that you have mentioned Onsong.
Not sure why you would expect better from me for all I said was I saw a Balak player run from 10 metres away and lucky there was no damage done.
I apologise for writing what I saw.

Fair enough on your behalf. But there seems to be a bit of questionable difference between your mates recollection and what happened. I guess if UFC stand by this guy at the tribunal and put up that sort of defence he might get off. We'll have to wait and see.

Just tidied it up for you ;)

I'm not aware of a report being lodged at this current point in time.

An attempted block that got him slightly high was a pretty average attempt at justifying it, i think whoever lead you to believe that was the case might have been having a laugh MC. .
Footys the winner- as in he did not hit him from the direction Mitchell was facing, the reason why Mitchell didn't see it coming.
Not having a go at united at all simply the player.

Thanks. You are quite correct. The broken jaw is an unfortunate fact though.
I understand that BFC have submitted a report based on the events. I don't believe an umpires report was laid. I would hope the tribunal is invited to review the BFC report based on the injury. We'll know more in a few days obviously.

Hey MC, maybe you could lend Balaklava the letter/club report you sent to the association when Starry had his jaw broken a year or two ago? Save them re inventing the wheel? Might also save you defending Drainer :)

Are you suggesting a precedent has been set?
Very similar injuries, similar part of body used, similar distance from the ball.
Perhaps remind us how many week the hummocks player was suspended for after being found guilty. (yes I deliberately left the plural off the word week) :)

Anyway as expected a club report has been lodged. We will wait until Thursday morning to find the results.

I believe he got 3 with two suspended due to his long squeaky clean history which suggested there was not much in it. Unfortunately this fellow doesn't have a long squeaky clean history does he.

Stephen drainer has never been found guilty at the tribunal. He got 1 week a couple of years ago for getting 2 yellow cards in 2 weeks (mandatory 1 week suspension in the SAAFL) both very very minor incidents.
