Etihad is great when its full and the noise is amazing but is a pretty sterile place when the crowd is small.
Worst, VFL park was a disgrace, windy and cold out in the middle of a paddock with no transport. Princes Park, Vic Park and Moorabbin were shockers in their day. Windy Hill seemed good in that era but looking back you realise how bad it was

Never went to Waverly/VFL park, but looking at footage of games, it looked windy, cold and your right in the middle of nowhere

Was alot closer than AAMI is to the City but had no public transport, had to catch a train but the last station was a a few km's away so you could either walk the remaining distance or get a cab. Never ever went there when it wasnt blowing a gale and the winds came straight off the ocean and usually rain accompanied the wind. Terrible venue
It was heaps further away from the city than AAMI, at least 10km further, and it was too far to walk from glen waverley train station.

You are probably right, just seems closer because of the freeway, hadnt been there since 1993 and went out to have a look when we were there before easter this year and only took about 25 minutes from the city center. Only went out there by train once and a guy on the train said it was a 25min walk to the ground so being a lazy prick I caught a cab, heaps of people walked up the road so im guessing they were getting on a bus?

you must have been one of those port supporters that deserted them in the last few years, because for about the last 2-3 years of footy park you could get beer at your seat. ;)

I was too young to be able to get to alot of the suburban grounds such as Waverley Park, Vic Park, Western Oval, Morrabin etc.

I went to Melbourne a few weeks ago and my mate and I caught the bus out to Waverley to have a bit of a look. It didn't seem that much of a hassle to get to, but would have been a nightmare to get to back in its heyday, especially when it came to dispersing 70k+ crowds! It is wonderful to see what Hawthorn and Mirvac have turned the site into, but its an eerie development when you think back to what was once there.

Vic park was one place im thankful I never got to (might not be here writing this otherwise ), however looking back on my childhood, watching footy on all the suburban grounds, I cant help but wish we had kept some of them.

Are you for real? Subi is a shit hole with ant tunnels through the grandstands.... It's a continual patch up job and an absolute disgrace considering it was "Majorly" upgraded in the late 90's.

Adelaide Oval for me. after the weekend, it won me over big time (even though my team got pumped). The atmosphere there was electric and the oval is fantastic. That also may have had something to do with it being a Port game though because at least their suppoters don't carry on like **** to the opposition and their supporters like the Crows supporters.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Most crows supporters suck. Was actually a bit nervous when I got my new seats at AO because there is nothing worse than those that just yell "kick it" or some other inane comment like that.

Was pleasantly surprised to sit next to a couple of Greek blokes that were yelling their head off all game but then also commented on how awesome Jeremy Cameron was. So I am happy haha

yeah they're not all bad I guess, but I reckon every time i have watched the Cats play the Crows, I always end up sitting with all the numpty's. Drives me insane and has given me almost a hatred for the Crows. Port supporters are totally the opposite. you might get one here and there but it's nothing like the 90/10 ratio of tossers as opposed to good supporters. anyhow, i'm getting off topic here, but i get fired up when i talk about Crows supporters lol.

Best for me Adelaide Oval & MCG.

Worst Waverley, although was glad to have seen a game there before it stopped being an AFL venue.

Etihad ok, although feels a little plastic/artificial.

Best, The Gabba..great ground for Footy. Maybe not so good for the players with the Cricket pitch there. Worst..Optus Oval what a hole.
