Yeah but there's also clubs struggling to field juniors as well. Plus no SFL clubs have populations of only 400 to get their players from. Not quite comparing apples with apples there.

Sure population in some towns is an issue but SFL clubs have to deal with some clubs being only 2-3 kms apart, I know there are 130 kids in Under 12's this season between Happy Valley and Flaggy.

Im also aware of many families that live closer to HFL clubs but travel to SFL clubs for their kids to play.

Mt Barker & Hahndorf would have close to that number as well, so did Lofty until their relegation. Looking on the Southern forum your clubs are struggling with the same age group Hills clubs are struggling with, senior colts.
I can understand some people living in the hills but playing for southern clubs because of travel times to the grounds. HFL goes from Kangarilla to Sedan via shit roads. Travel time to Aldinga wouldn't be too bad on South road & will be even better when the expressway is complete.
I know I keep harping on this but the HFL offered to get rid of the U13 comp & have a 3 year age gap for country div & guess who voted against it, the clubs. HFL also suggested having juniors run separate to seniors & guess who voted against it. Yep, the clubs. That's why I get fired up when the ill informed keep bagging the HFL.

Which HFL club needs to pay a fine (via their cricket club) for not having their oval available for a cricket final and playing a trial game instead?

No its traditionally been a big step for any club coming up into the Central or even back in the day, Zone 1 of the HFL.
Would pick Mt Barker and Uraidla for the top 2
then Hahndorf, Lobethal and Ironbank filling the 5
Onkas and Blackwood to keep them honest ( not knowing how well they have recruited will leave judgement open )
Bridgewater a step ahead of Echunga with TV for the spoon.

Rostrevor are quality all over. In Ironbanks defence they had half an A grade side for several reasons, one due to cricket finals the following day. Ironbank's youngsters got given a very good lesson in football which was taken onboard in a positive manner.

I watched a bit of the trial game between Mt Barker and PHOS Camden and to be honest I didn't think Mt Barker were better than Echunga at all.

In fact if Echunga get back some of the guys that didn't play last season and pick up a couple of recruits I would rate them higher.

I know it's just a trial game, but just didn't see it.

I left at half time, but from what I saw I reckon Echunga would be just in front of the Roos, but it will depend on who stays and who goes from the Demons.

Hahndorf's trials to date have been patchy with the mixture of inexperienced and senior players producing one sided halves....the one sided halves the other way.

we will see how they fair this week in their final hit out....

who are the other clubs playing in their final hit outs??

Jervois played Echunga in a trial at alberton last week and it looked like a training drill for jervois with a 20+ goal win

I dunno about that OTH, I was just putting your side up against them as someone had placed you above them on their ladder. Who knows, you blokes could finish last and Echunga second to last!!!

Have Echunga got some big recruits coming Panther? Is there something your not telling us. The Demons must have something up their sleeve as you seem confident they will have some instant success in Central.
