Crowds at SA Country Grand Finals

Postby Rapper » Wed Jun 13, 2007 2:54 pm

Last year I was at the Hills Central League Grand Final and I heard that they had about 3000 people pay to get in. What sort of crowds do they get at other finals in the country.

Riverland only had just over 2500 last year.
Not too bad though considering the grand final had two teams from the one town in it.
8000 is huge

I have seen some big SFL grand finals at Porties including the biggest brawl i have ever seen and I am sure who ever was there that day in 2004 i reckon would back that up.To have 8000 is a massive crowd but I wonder in thats a big stretch of the truth? With cars around the ground I doubt you would be able to fit 8000 in a ground.I may be wrong but it sounds a bit far fetched though..........

8000 is true, Jamestown oval is a massive area and in the end cars had to park in the streets as the area was full, you also have to remember Netball follows the footy as well so everyone goes.

Cars aren't allowed into the ground at Riverland grand finals.
I went to a gf in the Barossa in 2002 I think, Tanunda v Nuri? at Angaston.
Big crowd there from memory.
Had a good setup at Angaston.

$12 to get into a country final.

I must say I heard Jameston did have 8000 at the game. That would have been a huge buzz for the players. I wonder how many jumped the fence and didn't pay to get in. Could have been more.

SAAFL get around 2000 at Adelaide Oval.

I played in the Mid North for 3 years and played in a GF at Melrose.. The crowd that day was reportedly 5500.. They certainly follow their footy & netball in the mid north.. As Jamestown was who I played for, 8000 at that ground would have been massive. certainly provide a great atmosphere for the players... Excellent setup with plenty of space..

At Paringa in 2004, the MK v Lyrup gf, the crowd was pretty big DW.
I reckon 1500.

In an Anzac match against Cobby in 2005, I reckon Paringa took over 1000 through the gate, which is pretty good for a minor round match.

Went to the KNTFL G/F last year at Bordertown - must have been about 4,000 there when the mighty Naracoorte Demons beat Keith

Hate to say it mate, but they don't rankle at all.

We were expected to win neither, and to go down in the 2005 first semi-final to the eventual premiers was a pretty creditable effort (I thought anyway).
