My Dad was diagnosed November 20th and died December 19th.

It happens real quick but in a way that may be better than prolonged suffering.

This. My old man was diagnosed in 2011 and passed away December 17th last year. There wasn't that much of him at the end.

mother in law passed at 52 after a very short battle with lung cancer too, also didnt smoke a day in her life, though likely passively smoked a lot because of time spent in pubs with my father in law.

Cancer is a nasty way to go, and a friend of mine died from Oesophageal Cancer quickly after his diagnosis last year.
There is uncertainty about all the causes - exposure to some virus types can set you up for it, and we have all heard about irritants that damage tissue like smoke - from any source - and some chemicals.

Methyl Benzene was a popular fuel additive for vehicles at one time and pushed by one particular fuel company, but a high incidence of bladder cancer in those handling it killed it off.

Recently, the W.H.O. declared diesel fuel fumes to be as as carcinogenic as Asbestos, but we are ignoring that one as too hard to handle.
(It is not just the particulates that you can filter out but semi-oxidised gaseous components in the exhaust.)
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!
