So shepherding. Does this mean that you can't protect your player who has the ball with a block or hip and shoulder? Are you still allowed to shepherd a player within 5m of the ball? I just wonder where and how this rule is to be applied. I.e. At a ruck contest a player can't body another player to stop him from moving into space? My player has the ball, I can't block an opposition player to allow my player to run free? Gunna love watching this rule being applied - sigh!

I'd assume its still fine to shepherd a player with the ball, the video was pretty useless as far as showing any changes but I thought I'd still put it out there as the SANFL deemed it as news.

Extremely annoying to see 50m pens brought into SA football. Always hated them, especially for 'dissent'. Any 50 m past halfway is an almost certain goal.

Generally it's just two 25m pens when it looks like a 50. (Until this season) they only give 50s rarely.

Yeah but its been in the rules for years, its not like its being brought in?
Reports have always been an auto 50m penalty for a while having they?
Are you saying you wouldn't want it brought in as a complete replacement for the 25m?
That I would understand and agree with.

I am. But the clarification that '50 metres (will be) given for late forceful contact & Abuse or Demonstrative action towards an umpire' makes the cynic in me think that there is going to be an increase in 50s. I don't want it to become like the AFL.
