Dasher is totally right. This topic is the exact one he started that got deleted. I supported freedom of speech then, I support it now. As you can see, the topic isn't hurting anyone. In fact, we are all getting to know each other a little better... maybe a little too well in some cases...

I can see sort of why there is such a major issue with it. It is rather barbaric, but I guess the major reason why it is done like that not long after birth is simply because it won't be remembered (apart from being a religious thing). I don't know how any doctor could do that with all that noise, though.

I do have a question though. Is this "issue/debate" etc. restricted to it being done on babies, or is it in all cases, at any age? It's not a crime either way, and don't forget, there are problems that cause it to be done.

I reakon this is a really valid discussion, in fact I really want some advice as I'll be a dad for the first time this year. Round 14 to be exact - shame we don't have a bye.

Without getting too personal (I'm not going to start a poll or anything) but I thought it was fairly common and I thought I'd be in favour when the time came. But the more I talk to people and read about it, it appears it is a bit more frowned upon these days.
