Seinfeld V Simpsons

Postby - » Mon Feb 13, 2006 9:52 pm

For mine the two funniest shows on television.

Correct me if im wrong but most people consider these the two big guns.

I say the Simpsons just shade Seinfeld.

"Baby on board". Why dont you put a sign on ur car saying "adult on board" or "car stereo in use"?

The only 2 shows I've taped off of tv, are The Simpsons & Seinfeld... I refuse to watch American tv shows, but these 2 are too good to ignore.

Probably go with Seinfeld...just.

The Kramer factor gets it over the line.

This topic's been moved from general discussion to entertainment.

I'd personally just give the Simpsons the extra tick, but both are outrageously hilarious.

Apples and Oranges surely. One was a ground breaking ANIMATION series and the other a ground breaking SITCOM.
I find them both very funny but so obviously different as well.

The Simpsons by a mile. Seinfeld is OK, but Simpsons is in a class of it's own.

dash, for the first time i think i agree with you....

true simpsons just shades senifeld but both started out very rough and had i followed seinfeld from the start and not gotten into it later on, it would be even harder to choose...but since i can remember the simpsons from the word go,then they win, but a bees dick

As far as TV shows go:

1) Trailer Park Boys (Canadian)
2) Seinfeld

I put King of the Hill ahead of the Simpsons but I think I"m just all "Simpsoned" out between Fox8 and C10, the kids love the Simpons though.

Simpsons used to be awesome but has really gone to the dogs in the last few years.
Problems I see in recent developments:

-Whole cast in every episode (I only wanna see Disco Stu & the Sea Captain every now and then!).
-Special guest stars every week.
-Homer more and more annoying and just dumb - I just don't feel for him anymore.
-Too contemporary - references to current stuff means it will date badly. It works well when they look back at golden times, like the 80s for eg.
-Voice changes - Moe sounds completely different!!
-Scripts are predictable, lame and unfunny.
-Smithers & Burns 'relationship' has lost all subtlety.

Used to be my favourite, now I can't bring myself to watch it (new episodes anyway). Futurama kills it.

Actually my biggest prob with the Simpsons was the amount of time the first 3 series were repeated over and over, Im sure the first 3 series have been repeated 100 times with the rest only being repeated twice, if they'd shown each episode equal amount of times in each series I probably would never have got bored to tell the truth.

Never heard of it but it made me think of another brilliant Canadian comedy 'Strangers With Candy' - absolutely brilliant!

Enjoying Garth Marenghi after South Park as well - fans of the Office will understand why.

Never seen that but must have a look as I'm a big fan of Canadian comedy, Mrs Wedgie thought I'd lost it when I told her my fav show in the world was the original Tom Green show.

Wasn't me but I guess it was moved as it was more appropriate for the Entertainment Forum which I agree with.
