. Going from 0/18 to 5/19 in the space of 3 overs was a calamity for the visitors. Greeks best batsmen Johnson went 1st ball, driving straight to cover and then followed by Tonkin C&b for a 5th ball duck and then Zanker for a 1st baller . Credit to Ashbournes bowlers for their disciplined lines and lengths they hit and despite the pitch offering a bit of help for sure, the batting seriously lacked heart by a number of players unfortunately. Ashbourne knocked the runs up off only 8.4 overs for the loss of only 1 wicket. A hastily organized 15 over a side match was to follow to keep the crowd entertained for the rest of the arvo. Well done to Ashbourne Cricket Club for their hospitality by looking after the ladies from both clubs, certainly by early evening the result of the match was the last thing on peoples mind as the empty wine bottles surpassed the amount of runs scored for the day .

After the humiliating embarrassment of loss no 17 against Ashbourne last week, we rebounded strongly to narrowly go down to Woodside Saturday for our 18th consecutive loss. Finally have been able to get a reasonable team on the park which makes a big difference. The breakthrough came against Hahndorf in the T20 on Sunday. A tight game that went down to the wire. Hahndorf needing 23 off last 3 overs with wickets in hand looked to be heading for victory but some tight bowling and some panic batting saw the Creeks get home by 7 runs. A competitve 126 against Strath may have been enough but for dropping Mark Abbott several times on his way to a quickfire 49 which saw Strath cruise in with a couple of overs to spare. Creeks may certainly cause a few headaches for teams above them in the lead up to finals as they have finally look to have a more than competitive team on the park now although that could change markedly from week to week as it has all season.

Hahndorf and Wistow have basically crashed out of Finals contention, Nairne predicatably have returned to neat the top of the ladder whilst Ashbourne have been the BIG mover, shooting themselves into Finals contention by winning 4 of their last 5 matches. Gonna be an interesting last 3 matches.

While plenty of batsman got a start on Saturday, couldn't establish a match winning partnership. A few dropped catches made life difficult in the field. Imps’ stick down matting was pretty ordinary.
On the Sunday a 0/78 start soon became 8/122 before the tail supported Sumner. Some late hitting from KI gave them a sniff.
Given that Paracombe and Palmer didn’t contribute 1 player towards the team, the results were probably as expected. An enjoyable weekend. Well done to AEHCA on their win.
