I dont read too much into the rankings, fairly meaningless IMO as some countries play some fairly dodgey matches. The USA always amazes me, ranked 14 yet have the ability of about number 70, pretty easy to get ranking points playing Canada, Guatemala and other scrubbers all the time. The Aussies would qualify top of the CONCACAF region every time. Uruguay is another with distorted results, had to qualify for the WC via the playoffs yet are ranked 6.
And Cape Verde at 39 FFS, New Zealand would hammer them

i know the ranking means nothing, like tennis. But being the worst ranked country doesn't help our campaign from the start IMO. countries would look down on us.

I want aust to do well but I also believe we are woeful and be lucky to score a goal even in the cup

Chile, Spain and Netherlands drawn in Australia's group. Get to play the best team in the world as well as the 9th and 15th ranked teams in the world. Chances of progressing took a dive.
First game at 8:30 am
On June 14

Be lucky to grab a point from that group.
Poms also fared bad getting Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica

Poms are stuffed.
We need a good result in our first game against Chile. A couple of big jobs for Miligan. He will probably have to stop fabregas and Van Persie

We will not score a goal and will concede 10, a total embarrassment.

Brutal draw but its the world cup. No hiding.
Beat Chile first game and anything is possible
Japan & Korea both got good draws and should progress.

I agree with this. 4 points could be enough. Soccer is a funny game

That will just be the first game! The likes of Vidal and Sanchez will destroy Lucas Neill and co.

Not true, there are some pretty ordinary sides beside Australia in the comp. A couple of groups are far easier

Doesn't matter, could have been in a golden draw but will still go out in the first round ...

Would we have even made the last few World Cups if they didn't change the rules to gift us entry?

no because we played off to a south American country that had a woeful few games against the same and weren't up to scratch. And even so these teams from south America we played off to make the WC could wipe us off the park with their second string team.

Don't forget we have aerial ping pong and mugby as our dominated sports so it will always be harder for Australia to have a show
