Why wouldn't the club go to police? Sounds dodgy, whatever is happening...

Getting back all or the majority of the funds missing would be a higher priority for the Club rather than have someone sitting in a prison cell with no chance of getting the funds back.

Fair enough. How far did the police look in to the fire and the safe theft? Or is that a separate issue...?

Andy Collins wants AFL teams to take another look at Travis Tuck:

HAWTHORN premiership player Andy Collins says the 18 club recruiters should do their due diligence and at least interview Travis Tuck who he believes deserves another chance in the AFL.

Collins, who coached the 25 year-old at West Adelaide this season, described Tuck as the SANFL's best clearance players and a walk-up start for a club looking for a big-bodied midfielder.

He said Tuck, who became the first player to record three strikes under the AFL's illicit drug policy in 2010, had not put a foot wrong since moving from Hawthorn to Adelaide, and has a steady job and girlfriend as he completes the rebuilding of his life both on and off the field.

"If any recruiter just met with him, he would see that Trav is in such a strong position and he would be a totally different person to what he once was and he is a very impressive young man right now," Collins said.

"He is probably the best clearance player in the SANFL and he had an early ankle injury ankle which didn't allow him to maximise his fitness, but he is a V8 who operated on six cylinders and he has got a huge engine capability."

Rumours I'm hearing are that the club are responding to this in a very sensitive manner for the right reasons. It seems they are upholding a duty of care in extreme circumstances and if what I'm hearing is true, I would support the same if it were my club.

Just got this members release

In response to the article in today’s Sunday Mail the West Adelaide Football Club wishes to make the following statement.

The Board of the West Adelaide Football Club will not be commenting on the matters raised in the article until the conclusion of a full internal review of the Club’s operations. This review has been ongoing for the majority of the 2013 season and any comments now, in the Board’s opinion would be premature. With certain sensitivities surrounding this matter the Board wishes to assure all stakeholders that it will continue to act in the Club's best interests.

At the conclusion of this internal review the Club will be making further comment.

The Board further wishes to reassure all members and supporters of the club that we have collectively worked incredibly hard to turn around the financial situation of the Club this year to ensure the viability of the Club now and into the future. While the full financial statements for the 2013 year have not yet been completed we are confident of a significant surplus for the past financial year.
