I must say St Marys was looking good on Friday night, freshly mowed lawns, non death trap looking goals, and a beautifully marked pitch. Well played to those in the working bee that got it setup last week! Also well played to SBS who have got the rights to the A-League on Friday nights giving the team rostered on to the bar on Fridays something else to watch!

The Taints looking forward to our first run this Friday night against Flinders.

Hopefully Having something good to watch will help create more atmosphere in the bar. I flicked the TV over to the International rules replay yesterday when I got there for the last half.

Whilst the Goats had more better players and certainly took their chances a lot better than Na Fianna it was pretty clear the best player on the ground was a 17 year old debutant fresh from the Australasian titles known now as "Monster" otherwise known as Zack Stephenson. Controlled CHB, broke lines and even scored. Outstanding game by a lad with a big future. I thought best for the Goats was also a debutant. Forgot his name but he playes wing for Willunga from all reports and is about 6'4. kept things simple and did a lot of damage around the middle and half forward.

Onkas too good Friday night for Port. They were a really quick side able to get the ball deep. They probably should have scored a couple more unders (which went as overs).
Not all bad for Port who had a fair few debutants. They showed some good signs, and played good footy in parts I thought. Good numbers atm too, so hopefully they can retain those players for the rest of the season.

Has there been any more news on the SA Minors team in the 7s? We are on 9 teams now and really want the 10th team to avoid a bye. I have the draw finalised with either a bye or a game against the SA minors in each round

Probably fair to say Irish did not. 5.10 is a lot to concede in a game let alone a half

Port were solid against Na Fianna I thought, the score maybe could easily have been a bit closer with two preventbale unders conceded. Na Fianna just made much better use with the wind, and were able to convert more of their shots on goal. Port missed Steven Clay's influence up forward, who was stuck in the goals as a result of a injury flare up... I feel as though the game would have been a lot closer had he been providing an option in the forward half.
Port were quite good defensively I thought with what was a significant wind in the first half, and were probably hurt a bit by the interruptions in play in the second half when they had the wind. Number 9 for Na Fianna carved up like every other time I've seen him play, he'd have to be in the top 3 players in this comp I'd reckon.

Port have a lot of upside to them, showing improvement in every game this season (which isn't hard considering how bad they were v Flinders in Rd 1). They are missing Ricky Wiseman desperately, whose kick outs are probably the best in the comp, hopefully he's not too far away. They've had good numbers so far this season, with a fair few showing a lot of potential in their first couple of games; hopefully they stick to it, as they could develop into some very handy players by seasons end.

Was down keepin an eye out on a port mate or two. Agree with lutz, shoulda been closer.
Good game to watch for first time out. I must say that old bloke on the sideline seemed over keen to insert himself in the game whenever he could, didn't seem normal to me. Over heard a couple of the opposition saying it's a common thing for him especially when the next game was against his team?

It's just a shame that a good game of Gaelic Football is going to be remembered for all the wrong reasons and will probably end up in the hands of the Australasian council if common sense does not prevail at State level.

Thanks to Port for a good spirited contest. The farcical event that occurred in the last 2 minutes has left me in a State of disbelief still 24 hours later and if the worst red card in the history of sport is upheld our game in this State is on borrowed time and end will up just like the Nationals. 3 team comps!!!
