Dominant sporting people/teams

Postby Grahaml » Thu Jun 07, 2007 3:47 pm

What teams and individuals are there out there that are dominating their competitions? I'd say Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, the Australian cricket team, in one day and test matches and the CDFC in the SANFL are the ones I can think of, but are there any others? Some less well known ones?

Not so much this year, but Central Whyalla Football club in the Whyalla Football League have won 7 or the last eight football premierships, including six in a row from 1999 to 2004.

Man Utd won a few titles in the EPL for a while there.
The Williams sisters in tennis, both made the finals of Grand Slams on a regular basis for about 2 to 3 years.

New Zealand have been No 1 in the overall standings for the IRB Sevens World Series for 7 of the last 8 years...beaten by Fiji last year.

Yes it's something I have to live through every four years. I don't think we've been quite as dominant in world Rugby as we've been since the last World Cup however so I live in hope. South Africa are very strong this year. Game One Tri-Nations/Bledisloe this weekend.

Do you think the 2 can be compared?

Bulls were more about 1 player, Spurs more about the team structre.

Even though I'm an SAS fan, MJ's bulls were out of this world and easily the most entertaining side to watch.

totally agree, thats why I admire the Spurs so much...team team team....ESPN were comparing their championship records which are now very similar in terms to dynasties...
