Well without L. Chapman (Lofty) we were gone, kicked 3 or 4 first quarter with help from Thunderer, Gaz Williams to get to 5.1 at quarter time compared to 5.9 for BL&G. My best for that quarter for Hills were Chapman and Alf Stephens who was playing in an unfamiliar role at full back against an obvious gun small forward.

Pencil spat the dummy at one stage, with the coaching panel.

Chappy 4 snags in the first quarter? That's brilliant!

I think it's outrageous he's been playing B grade. Thank God he was loyal to the Devs and stuck around, cos he's a class act and great bloke too. Fit bastard!

Was Pagey wearing leather pants again? If so, Pencil had every right to spit the dummy!

Could not believe my eyes when skimming over the best players. A. Stephens not even a mention would have to be very stiff. I thought King got alot of the ball, but i thought uncharacteristically burnt alot of kicks and maybe even a few stray handballs! M. Baldock's athleticism was indisputable and offered great run all day, however he also seemed wayward with his skills. I do think this may have a little to do with Alaska's comment about the lack of height and key positional players in the side? G. Williams would have been top 3 on the ground for Hills up until Page benched him at 3 Quarter time. For me this was a big error, and i could see no justification for a small forward who was rotating on to the ball who had kicked 3 out of 11 goals being benched! Chapman was the only target up forward that ever looked like a threat and won his position and Temme tried hard to little prevail in the ruck!

On BL&G the stand out for me besides their full forward who kicked a lazy seven was number 23 S.leal? He was a small midfielder and i believe their captain, his skills and ability to read the ball off the ruck and a contest was second to none. I was surprised that he didn't get in the best he started many a forward thrust which often ended with a lace out kick from himself or allowed another five yards with a slick handpass to one of the many runners they had all day! Would love to have seen stat efficiency on the game also, the amount of skill errors made by the Hills side to the BL&G was evident from the sideline, and probably expected in a very young and inexperienced Hills side!

And apart from the footy the only criticism i would have is on the Lobethal canteen. It is the second time i have ventured to the venue this year and my stomach is glad it's the last. Was not even able to get anything other than hot chips midway through the second quarter of the game. when it was the club game i couldnt get pies pasties snag rolls during the second quarter of the 2's! Bit dissapointing!

S&B, good roundup for those of us not at the game.

On canteens, despite being totally biased, the Devils canteen is clearly the best in the HFL, and our post match meal offering is better than any pub I've been to in Aus on choice, quality and price.

Thoughts?

Yeh G. Williams was clearly in the top 3 at 3 qtr time and probably best to be honest. His tackling for being 5ft tall is amazing! jst latches on to anyone and theres no escape. Their 100kg+ fat ass ruckman was running at him and hes jst locked an arm and thrown him to ground.

Gotta agree with you S+B on King. Seemed to kick alot of rainmakers and even his handballs which are normally amazing were little rusty. Baldock offered good run but probably made wrong decisions and burnt it alot also. A. Stephens clearly in the best too.

Don't beat off and post at the same time.

It has warped your judgement. Hills would pummell Southern if all players were available.

Read back over posts and you'll see why Hills weren't at full strength.

To the blokes who made themselves available to the Association side, they should all be commended on their efforts. Special mention to the Kersbrook lads N.Pearce, D.Bingos and P.James.

To the Uraidla F.C........No votes. Firstly I thought Uraidla were a bit different when they wouldn't clear Hunsy to us a couple of years back, but after their effort (or lack of) on the weekend just confirmed that they probably think they're a little bit better than the rest of us. The best side in the HFL and not one rep., which in turn will bring in player suspensions next year if u don't make yourselves available. Thanks Uraidla!

Boys Im commenting from the fence, BL&G is a good league and showed it on the weekend. It can be sai that the Hills didn't have there full compliment of players but in all fairness neither did the BL&G as there were a few faces missing.
Unfortunately you're association is only as good as its last effort regardless of who did or did not put there hand up, if there is blame of ill feeling to be laid then it should be toward those that let you down by not playing.
Lion Heart you continue to post on every forum that the SFL is basically superior to all other associations, bit biased aren't ya mate?

Cougar firstly ill say good on your lads for making themselves available. Secondly I'd like to say how noticeably different the ability of the top Country Div blokes to the top Central Div blokes is, to me that stuck out like a saw thumb. P.James made a handful of crucial mistakes through simple skill errors. Having said that though there were not too many standouts or guys in the team who used the ball well all day! The Country boys took a while adapting to the pace of the game and due to this kicks were rushed, handballs were rushed and the end result was far from pretty. Not having a stab at the Country Div as i am sure there is some very talented players, however, this too me was very obvious from the sidelines.

If anyone wants to know why Chapman doesn't get many A grade games. Ask him how often he trains. He works night shift and cant train very often. He undoes all his good work.

He missed last weeks game cause he had sore teeth?

S & B i think you have forgot that Paul James played league football, and i think League footy is alot better then Inter League! so i doubt he would struggle in central div, i'd take him at my club!

Cougar, welcome to the Cabbage hate club. Seriously, the Cabbage are a bunch of scrotums (with the exception of Pucker) who are so inbred they can't count to ten without reverting back to trying to workout how each of them are related.

They aren't the best side in the HFL. They may be top at the moment, but it will be tears again in 2007 come finals time and all that shitty cabbage will make plenty of sauerkraut, so the German boxheads will be happy.

DA, that is p#ss funny. And I'm of German hertitage. Still funny!
I think it's BLATANTLY obvious that Uris are willing to cop whatever flack cometh their way for not providing players for the inter league game, because they want em all fit for a tilt at the flag.
All this slinging (and I think most of it is justified) will go away by Saturday morning and Uraidla won't care, and in the meantime have kept their best players protected.
In the wash up, their plan is pretty clear - must avenge last year.
