It is $102,000 on road with 6 months rego.

the manual is a bit cheaper at $97,000. i went auto for my woman cant drive manual and she wouldnt allow me to buy the GTS if it was manual :(

Bully, by that you're not going to put it on blocks and let the value increase? I had a VZ Monaro, fully kitted out, and should've put it on blocks and kept it. Alas I didn't and now it's gone. I regret selling it!!!!!

To spend $100,000 on a car and wait for the value to increase to get a return on the investment is just plain dumb. Put the $100k in the bank and get a guarunteed return of 8% or thereabouts or wait 20 years and not know what return you will get on your investment.

Car sales have a couple of VZ Monaro's with one having 260k's on the clock, $70,000. As a buyer, would you pay $70k and put it in the shed or would you drive it? If you're going to drive it spend $35k and get one with 60,000 on the clock.
PAFC. Forever.

Looking at getting a Holden Captiva or Nissan X Trail for the missus. Anyone had any experience with either of these?

Was looking at similar 12 months ago, finished up with a subaru xv. Love it.

Was also considering mitsubishi Asx.

X trail ok, had it as a hire car a few times, a little clunky in traffic.

Captiva very big for what they are.

Got a 2012 xtrail and love it. Good around town and capable of doing some off road work. Take one for a test

Fleet price was about $30k, give or take with your options. Went to it from a commodore, using 2/3 fuel, fits 3 kids easily as well as all the crap they carry about.

Go to Jarvis on west terrace and drop my name, I'll get some cash!

went and saw a GTS yesterday .......ohhh my god!!!!! I nearly cracked a fat it was so nice, sounded awesome.

You can start the car with a button on the key, don't even need to be sitting in it to start it. Then the car can be driven for a certain distance before the car realises the key is not within distance, and the engine stops ( thieft prevention I take it ) It was red ( my colour )....sooooo tempted to order one but don't really have 100,000 dollars in my back pocket to use.

The salesman asked me why I was not buying one there and then, I said "I don't have 100,000 to spend at the moment". He said " I guess that is an important part" ....lol

might as well blow $100K on women and booze ... you'd get more value from it.

I test drove the X Trail before buying my Suzuki GV3 which I preferred as a vehicle to drive, and my three mechanic advisers suggested Nissans were much more problem prone. I also tested the Freelander, VW Tiguan and Touareg, and the Lexus hybrid - of those I preferred the VWs
Overall I wanted a permanent 4WD with a lockable centre diff (which the GV3 is) rather than a part-timer, and I've been happy with it in the 18 months since.

I didn't look at the Captiva, but it looks good in the advertisements.
