Why isn't there a COTA percentage from Adelaide to Melbourne? It's more expensive to buy coke and hookers in Melbourne.

Hehe.

In all seriousness though, you can't have differing caps for the cost of living unless you take in every single place that the game has teams.

What about the Crows and Power players that play in the SANFL. Its much cheaper for the ones that play for Centrals to buy a coffee then it is for the ones that play for Sturt or Norwood.

But their car insurance premiums would probably be higher coz they have to park at the Centre. (yeah Im from down norf).

A contracts a contract. Anything over $200k at the most is spending money...

I think this is the key point

I am sure COLA came in when Sydney were shite and no-one wanted to go there. The cost of living was just another hurdle for the club to overcome so the AFL in wanting to grow the game via a better Swans side allowed then extra cap space for recruiting.

Now Sydney are a club without a stigma so arguably the COLA should cut out at a certain salary level as players now have reasons to want to play there that offset the cost of living factor. It's becoming a haven for high profile players who want to hide in a largely non-AFL city.

Giants accidentally offer Buddy's $1.2 million a year, over six years contract to Shane Mumford. 'This is obviously super awkward.'

GWS Giants say they were disappointed to learn after the trade that Shane Mumford was 'not the Canadian one.'

I probably get 10-15% more in my pay packet than the same person doing the same job in Adelaide.

I know the Hawthorn players said there would be no animosity if he went to GWS but surely there must be a bit of heat now that he'll end up in Sydney.

Does anyone know how much buddy is on per year at Hawthorn. Would be interesting to see how much more Sydney is paying him.

Dont think they will stop the deal but they may put a limit on the contract years or atleast ask for his payment details upfront. On a contract that long they could demand that its not back or front ended and that the money is spread evenly over the years. There was talk of him playing for 6 years and then coaching for 3 years, this will be definately knocked on the head
