West Adelaide v North Adelaide - POST MATCH

Postby scott » Sun Sep 29, 2013 7:03 pm

West 8.8 (56)
North 16.16 (112)

Chad O'Sullivan amazing in the second half - 18 disposals to finish with 27 for the match, game-high six hard ball gets, game-high nine tackles and game-high 11 contested possessions to go with two goals.

Lewis Johnston had 23 disposals and 10 marks including a game-high 11 long kicks.

Todd Miles and James Craig superb in the ruck and around the ground.

Chris Schmidt probably Westies' best with 25 disposals, 8 clearances and 9 contested possessions.

Contested possessions were even 113-apiece but North's efficiency was superior 81%-75%.

Good win Cocks. Thank god.

O'Sullivan was best for mine, so classy, almost their X-factor in finals.

Agree with the above 2 over O'Sullivan, came to north with a point to prove, so far has done it no more so than today

North too many options today for West and i thought even with injuries and less rotations their fitness in the last 1/4 was superb.

Wont be a cake walk for Norwood next week, am sure they would have preferred to have been playing West

Seems like they have the quality but not the game plan.

Well done to the Roosters, far too good today. Good luck next weekend. Hope your injured players get up for the Grand Final. Enjoy the week.

IMO West lost the game at the selection table again, our team selection has been wrong for at least the past 8 weeks.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Got to laugh at comments like these from supporters whose teams WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE THE FINALS.

North are very dangerous when they get their running game going. I thought earlier in the year they (besides norwood) looked the most impressive so great to see they are back in form. How well they go I suspect will be determined by the state of their injuries. Thring's hamstring looked pretty bad and not sure about the other guy with the hip injury.

I wasn't going to turn up at the GF if westies made it but now that north came through I've already reserved my ticket to attend. Hopefully the weather replicates todays great conditions and we could see ~30k.

That West player who threw the punch at miles in the last quarter is lucky he didn't have to come off with a cut (as a minimum). Not a great look to deliberately swing fists like that and I think he'll go for 2 games.

Hartlett. 2 or 3 for the strike on Miles, and 2 or 3 for the strike on O'Sullivan.

Reported by the reserve umpire who also reported him last week as well

The reserve ump reported him for the O'Sullivan strike, not the Miles one.

The reserve umpire who had to withdraw the charge because he was wrong and got bluffed?

Great game of footy.

Had everything. Chad was awesome. Thiele, Rizzer, Miles, Nipper and Campbell all great. Loved Francou's move of starting Johnston loose in defence, and giving him a free roaming role, knowing exactly what West would do.

Gutsy effort by Shannon just staying out there. Obviously in a great deal of pain.

Made plenty of mistakes today, and if we do that next week against a side that is just slightly more attacking, they will cut us up.

Very weak act by Hartlett, deserves 4-6.

Our chances are slim but you can't win if you don't make it!

What did he do to O'Sullivan? I didn't see that one. I had a bit of a laugh though because the tv commentator said Collins took Hartlett off to cool him down in case he did some further stupid things. Sounds like he has a bit of a short fuse. WAsn't he suspened earlier in the year (maybe a carry-over suspension from the year prior) for 3-4 weeks for something else that was serious. If so, agreed he could be looking at 5-6 weeks.
