What happened to cracking down on staging?
Suspend someone for it and it will stop.
Why did they bring in the rule to enable them to suspend someone if they are not going to use it. Could have got Christensen for it last week or Selwood any week

The MRP has outdone itself again, handing Roughead 125 points for the block on Guthrie.
That type of block would happen at least 50 times every game. It appears because Guthrie was winded its worthy of points. Oh no that can't be the rule because Birchall got off.
FFS fix this diabolical system, pay Dermott whatever he wants to sort it out.
The Roughead one maybe a free kick but umpire didnt see it so that should be the end of it.

I agree that the Roughead one is an absolute farce

Its a non-issue, he gets a reprimand anyway with an early guilty plea.

But doesn't that then give him 93 carry over points next time he gets done?

It's a non-issue for this week, but it's a problem for him going forward.
It's BS that his next charge will be increased by a week over nothing, and he can't fight it cause there is too much on the line this week (ie the GF).
He's forced to plead guilty and then the precedent is now set that blocking is now worth 125pts.

Yep thats exactly right Trader the snowball effect and its exactly why we find ourselves where we are now. The MRP findings are never tested before the tribunal therefore it is a gross denial of natural justice.
At least Geelong didnt send Guthrie for scans, i guess they arn't playing the Hawks this week

Pretty sure the MRP will be overhauled through the off-season and once more, Roughead has bigger things to worry about this week.

You really are a simpleton hey Booney, its bullshit he cant challenge because the risk is so high. If it was round1 he would and thats the problem with the system. And whos to say it wont cost him a grand final berth next year if he does the same thing again but next time with carry over points. its a joke

Yep, it's a joke, I agree but thats the current system. The system will be reviewed over the summer and regardless of all that Roughead plays this week.

I hope he is more concerned with this Grand Final than he is about if he can play in next years.....

We all know it is a joke and as Mr. Boon has said, hopefully it is dealt with over summer.

Save your whinging till then

I don't have a problem with how the penalties are handed down. The penalty is 1 week. right? BUT if they do not go to tribunal, he gets a DISCOUNT...reduced to reprimand. If he wants to challenge it, then the penalty is the original 1 week that he would of got with the old system anyway.

I don't know why people find it so hard to understand this.

What DOES need an overhaul is how they come up with the penalty in the first place.

Agreed they need consistency on how they come up with the penalty

Brian Lake given 4, can get it down to 3
Cyril Rioli given 1 game
Nick Suban has been sent straight to the tribunal, looking at potentially 6-8

Suban won't get 6-8. Fraser stated that they weren't happy with the outcome if the directions (points) in that case. Hence why it went to the tribunal. Think it was graded at 625 points which would've meant 12 games when doubling for grand final incidences. May get 1 or 2 but won't be more than that.
