As a neutral supporter at the game, I honestly thought that North got the rough end of the pineapple from the umps today, particularly in the first quarter.

When Tony Dey paid an average free to the Eagles in the 1st quarter, my initial thought was "here we go, now all the North supporters will start on the Dey hates us stuff". But then, maybe he does, because he was average towards you lot today.

Anyway, an enjoyable game. A lot better than the Norwood/ West game which I left from early.

For consistencies sake, Parry should get done for that.
Then again if gets a game or not, not too fussed, as I believe it was a turning point of the game and felt North turned it up a gear.

Geeezzz who would have thought cocks supporters complaining about umpiring yet again, even though you won.

For the record the free kick count was 22-21 in favour of the Eagles.

Nothing wrong with the Parry bump, it was just 2 players going hard at the footy. If that's worth a report, let alone suspension that would be disgraceful. Won't matter anyway as I'm fairly sure he is retiring.

I thought the over all count ended up pretty close, I'd like to see a break down though.

Frees in Defensive 50

Frees in Forward 50 split into
-Frees resulting in shot at goal
-Frees resulting in a goal

eaglehascrashed, I think you'd find those stat's would be a little more one sided than the overall count and as far as soft (or worse) frees resulting in a shot on goal, a conservative estimate, 5 - 0, I didn't hear in neutrals that saw it any different either, most were saying 7-0

Well done North. Was a really good competitive finals game of footy.
Amazing how it was virtually a carbon copy of last week's game, except for the ten minutes run-on being at the start of the last quarter rather than the third, although I thought North controlled a bit more of the game yesterday. Even in the first quarter, it felt like they were going to break it open at any stage.
For the Eagles, like last week, everyone contributed at one stage or another, but hard to pick a definitive best few players and no one stood up to halt the runons when they came, and that's not good enough with the amount of finals experience we have. Some of the younger players did all right, von Bertouch, Batley, Martyn at times.

Good luck next week Roosters. Perhaps not playing quite the scintillating footy of last finals (Campbell excepted), but perhaps more of an overall team now with the development of some players.

Not even a game in the AFL IMHO.

Happy to be corrected, I can't recall money being a deciding factor for Parry, but on leaving South he did say he was only looking to go to a club that had a realistic chance of winning a GF. Interesting to hear Godden on the 5AA sports show saying how much Parry has given to the younger players on and off the field, the best he's come across.

I thought the bump was fine too, but like Disco said, was one of those turning points. Ball spills free, Eagles swoop on it and kick a goal and stretch the lead at a vital stage, or North find some steely resolve out of it. This time it was the latter, but that's footy.

Money had nothing to do with Parry leaving South but it had everything do with him going to South from Port. That's where he got the reputation as a money grabber. Daniel Hargraves used to incessantly give it to him hard about being in it only for the money during games between North and South in Parry's early days at South.

For what its worth I didn't think that the Boles incident was reportable but I did think that it should have been a free.

Daniel Stewart all guts for playing yesterday. On no contracts, had a 39 degree temp and could hardly breathe before the game. Only played because LJ pulled out and spent most of the games chucking his guts up.
Got to admire and love that sort of commitment!

And to make it easier on everybody else, particularly Champion Data, he stayed away from the ball as much as possible.

Even in the last quarter, North players found it more logical to kick goals from ridiculous angles rather than pass it to Stewart in the goal square unattended.

Parry's bump was not reportable, but a free should have been paid.

I had no issue with it at the game but on the replay showed a little more.

I even clapped Salters one handed mark and I never normally do that but that was classic.

I thought the bump was fair at first. You should be allowed to bump a player. Parry went as low as he could. If he'd stayed tall, you wonder how much damage he really could have done.
However, I then saw the replay and doesn't look great for him.

FWIW (and I'm not in the Parry fanclub) I thought his bump was ok, was just a good solid footy contest. He went in low and hard and at the footy as did the young lad on debut who was very impressive. His goal in the last quarter to take the lead was very classy, especially after taking the knock he had earlier in the game.

Wouldn't wanted to be near Goddsy anytime during that last 15 mintues.

He sounded fairly measured afterwards on 5AA. But that was a few hours after the game.

He would have been filthy at the players throughout the last half. And they deserved a spray.

Pathetic performance.
