North v Eagles - 1st Semi Post Game

Postby Wedgie » Sun Sep 22, 2013 5:18 pm

North 15.10 100
Eagles 12.11 83

Umps gave the yellow team about 7 goals and despite having a 6 goal advantage still lost.
Good effort in ruck by the player who was legally deregistered and managed to take out another player today despite not being legally eligible to play football except for some kind favours by the SANFL.
Gutsy win by the chooks.

Agree Wedgie, umps looked after the Eagles.
Disgrace that Parry was out there today, hopefully this finishes him off and he cant go bush and get $1000 a week to snipe kids. Never seen a side throw so many stomach and rib punches, Lewis threw a couple the weak dog.
Good to see the right side win today

Well Done Cocks.
Too good - running game in 2nd half was all over us.

I thought the Parry 'bump' was fair - shoulder contact.
The umpire was only 15 yards away - if it was high or malicious, surely he would've paid a free kick or reported him.

Hope it's a Norwood v North Grand Final - 30 K+ perhaps.

This was my last game as a WWTFC Member/Supporter - 10 years with my son.
It's been a good ride - certainly some ups & downs.

Goldy had a poor game, so did Powell.
Those who bag Parry - he did play 200 odd games.
Has been a good SANFL Footballer - was the best big man in the competition for a couple/few years.
Much maligned - has made some silly decisions at times.

Godden's future?

Bye Bye Eagles, thanks for some great times :D

No point bagging the umpires, Parry or anyone else. We won, that's all that matters. Lewis Johnston looked pretty happy at the end of the game. Fingers crossed he comes up for next week.

When North get their running game going it's pretty impressive. Not nearly as impressive as the absolute clinical demolition of West that Norwood is doing right now. North v West will be a fight to win the privilege of getting belted in the Grand Final. Norwood is just on a whole other level to the rest of the comp. So far ahead it's ridiculous.

Pretty ferocious second half by North Adelaide. In particular that last quarter - 7.5 to 2.1, 20-10 inside 50s, 46-35 cont poss, 25-15 long kicks. Over the course of the match North had 53 hard ball gets to the Eagles' 19.

Thought Todd Miles was excellent in the ruck. George Thring racked up touches at will (game high 11 long kicks).

Pretty solid stuff by that Boles fella to come back on after being smashed by Parry. Bloody courageous contest in itself by him too knowing he was going to be demolished.

You'd swear the umpires get told the opposite but the SANFL should be promoting the only excitement factor in the Finals.

Funny as buggery when the Norwood supporters were rocking up late in the game high fiving North fans saying similar.

Three finals in a row Eagles have got themselves in a winning position and three times they have been overrun. Gutsy win by North, but poor second half efforts by the Eagles when the season is on the line.

Clearly the Eagles lack that midfield run and they need to recruit one or two quality midfielders to carry the team forward.

Actually thought some of the lesser likes were pretty good today - Martyn, Von Bertoch, Kane. Cerainly no panic stations - they have blooded some good young players in the 2nd half of the year. Lack of foresight by Godden last year has probably cost them a genuine chance this year, but should be confident going forward in 2014.

Salter finally moved to full forward and he sparked the Eagles in the 2nd quarter, but as good as some of his play was, he let himself down in the last quarter when he shirked a chest mark with an oncoming North player and that was indicative of an Eagles team not willing to do the hard things and go the extra mile that is needed to win finals.

Well done to Parry on a great SANFL career. If Powelly goes, likewise.

Pathetic performances in finals is fast becoming the Eagles hallmark. Supporters are getting pretty sick of it
With departure of AFL inserts, retirements and draft losses the future in the league is looking at a rebuild

Will be reported and suspended. Got Boles in the head. No intention of going for the footy. Went straight for the player who had their head over the footy. Just because the umpire didn't pay a free kick just reinforces how bad the umpires were. Paid some of the softest free kicks I've ever seen today, yet Boles didn't get one for that.

Will be interesting what happens with Parry. At the end of the game he looked distraught. Retiring?

Been watching too much AFL Giant? The bump was fair. If the player who gave it was anyone besides Parry people would not be making too much of it.

Eagles = pathetic, inspid headcase. People have mentioned recruiting a decent midfield is a must. But we all know the eagles hierarchy believe the midfield is fine so unfortuantley yet again they won't addresss this glaring deficiency and we will be saying this exact same thing next year when our midifeld goes lacking in big games. What do they need? Well each one of them need a couple of trips to a sports psychologist for a start. Our best is more than enough to overpower all teams in teh competition but the difference between a norwood and us is that they are consistent and stand up under pressure. We on the other hand are gutless, weak and pathetic. The other thing we need is a kicking coach. Our forwards (Salter aside) are some of hte most inconsistent types around. Ainger is one of the chief offenders. Has he been good value for money? I'd suggest not given he has proven througouht the year he cannot stand up in big games. And as far as Staple...well he simply must go. We've carried him for hte past 2 seasons and instead have left Fitzgerald to rot in the reserves - can't blame him if he asks for a clearance next year.

For North I thought Riswyck once again carved us up (he is our bogey man) and that little aboriginal bloke in the backline (Clinch?) was magnificant. Not really sure why he hasn't been given a chance in the AFL actually. Miles again played some of his best footy against his old club. He is a great bloke and I wish him well. Shame he wasn't as appreciated by Godden actually.

Only highlight for the year was the debuts, and some case, progress of our younger brigade. Von Bertouch needs to be our full-back next year. Batley was excellent off HB in the last few games of the season and looks a player. Martyn showed a lot today I thought and is worth persisting next year.

Well done Craig Parry on a great career. You played your heart out today and unfortuntely most of your team-mates were pathetic and couldn't get you over the line. Also if this was Powell's last game, its been a pleasure watching you over the last 10 years and all the best with your future.

Only positives I can think of this year
