shake'n'bake wrote:Fair points Cracka. I don't mind what you have suggested at all.
I don't understand why you would have U/17.5's in Central and U/18's in country though.
Think you will find players will defect to country clubs from central clubs just to get an extra year of juniors.
Could think of 3 players from our club this year who would strongly consider doing this if it opened up.

I like the idea re U/13's not being compulsory, however if a team like Uraidla is struggling to fill U/15's in two years time for arguments sake,
are they not then inclined to play kids as young as 11 and 12 in U/15's just to avoid being relegated?

Not trying to pick holes in what you are suggesting, obviously a fair bit of thought has gone in to it.
However, i think the two points i have raised may be slightly concerning.

My reasoning for the different S/C ages is so what you've said could happen would happen. Some kids at that age are not quite ready for senior footy so rather than lose the from footy altogether, I'd rather see them play another year in country div. & it also helps the country clubs with numbers. Just trying to find a solution that helps both divs.

I think the discussion needs to include U13 and U15 especially for Uraidla, when we played them this year in the 15's they ran out with about 8 players I reckon, they had 2 or 3 permit players, 7 come up from the 13's and 2 of ours so we could have a game. And don't play Sundays either, Saturday mornings and Friday nights, thats the biggest stage in footy, there have been some huge crowds at triple headers on Friday evenings where as Sunday mornings can be cold, wet and lonely and it's also a committment across the weekend especially if you have kids playing netball, u17's and U13's, I've got other things to do as well.

Great work Uraidla. 4 A grade flags in 5 years. Lets throw you in Country division because you can't field an under 13s side. Fair dinkum :?

Perhaps if Uraidla put as much effort into their junior football program as they do in their senior football they wouldn't have a problem. I guess if you've got a trailer full of cash to pay A grade footballers then who really gives a stuff about the kids hey! Just change the system to suit a club that buys premierships, what a joke. Yep, send them to Country.

Yeah both GF winners this year are really struggling for junior numbers & want changes to the junior set up of the HFL. Maybe readjusting their priorities should be looked at for their own clubs futures.

Bridgey, Ironbank and Torrens Valley seem to manage. Instead of dishing out ridiculous amounts of money to A graders perhaps just concentrate on a junior plan.
