POWERADE STAR SEARCH WINNER

The SANFL would like to congratulate Central District’s Josh Glenn for winning the 2013 Powerade Star Search Award.

A revelation in defence this year, Glenn was nominated for the Powerade Star Search Award after his eye-catching performance against Port Adelaide in Round 6.

In winning the Powerade Star Search Award, the 19-year-old receives a cheque for $2,000 courtesy of Coca-Cola.

Introduced in 2007, the Powerade Star Search Award recognises the SANFL’s most outstanding emerging talent, with one player nominated each round throughout the home-and-away season.

To be eligible, a player must be aged under 21 on January 1, 2013. He must have also played no more than eight league matches at the start of the 2013 season.

No surprise his an absolute class act and will get drafted to the AFL next season if he choses to.

Its amazing how many young blokes can make the step up to league football so easy.

Dumont from Norwood is another young kid who has so much talent.

Might have thought you favoured the mouthy iconoclasts myself.

And now we seemed concerned that the Crows and Power will drag in the dregs from the Amateurs and give them a league game.

There are a lot of potential league players out there in the lower grades, its just that clubs dont do enough work in their areas and invite some of these lads who can play footy to come out and try.

With some positive approaches to these lads you will be surprised who you will find, if you wait for them to come out by themselves you get nothing.

Josh is a pretty rare occurrence though, PP.
Sure there are some players who could be playing league in the Ammos but most would've had a shot and are there for a reason.
Plus, he's only one player. The Crows are talking about bringing in a gaggle.

Also Josh was at Centrals last year until he went back to Elizabeth by his choice.

He was always on the clubs radar and they would have liked him to play higher up but he wanted to play at his 'home' club.

Yes, that, and he, along with quite a few others, weren't getting along with the then Under 18's coach...
