When you first decided you were too big for the SANFL and wanted to move on you didnt care that the Magpies wouldnt be playing in the SANFL, what has changed over the years?
The original idea was for the Magpies to cease existance, there was no uproar at the time, now all of a sudden things have changed

Always wanted the Magpies to stay in the SANFL Hated the thought of the club not wanting that. That is why I will never support them again.

Flicked on the box when I got home this evening, and was amused by what I saw on channel 7. Port Power wearing the guernsey of another team, at a time when Port Power management is trying its darndest to kill that same team.

Port Power with their performance in that last ever Footy Park match showed what they really thought of the magpies jumper they were wearing and the magpies legends who were paraded.

With Port Adelaide Magpies set to become Power's reserve team has any port supporters asked the club if they will wear Power Guernsey and be called Power?

I am trying to work out why they would wear the prison bar Guernsey and be called the Magpies.

Why would we? Our CEO is already on record that our SANFL side will wear the Prison Bars and will be called the Magpies.

I don't care either way if Port do wear Prison Bars or Power Guernsey but given the senior team (Port Power) will wear Power Guernsey I was trying to understand why the reserves team (SANFL team) would wear a different Guernsey.

Is it purely to keep supporters happy?

Oh and I don't hate Port since I started following the SANFL they are the only team bar South to not make a Grand Final ;)

Because the Port Adelaide Football Club understands its History and embraces it.

Unfortunately the $ANFL Commission and League Directors also understand that History. And are blinded by it!

The reserves proposal that PAFC put forward effectively sold out the Magpies, the reserves proposal the SANFL put forward effectively gave the PAFC the go ahead to sell out the Magpies, bar zones and juniors there's no ******* difference. All Kock's bullshit and bluster about juniors and zones is a diversion to the real travesty at hand....PAFC doing a 180 on the One Club promise that the Magpies WILL NEVER BE POWER RESERVES, and are quite happy to prostitute out the Magpies for their AFL intentions.

The Port Adelaide Football Club confirms that the SANFL league directors met this morning and voted to agree to amendments to an AFL reserves model which would enable the club’s non-selected AFL listed players to represent the Magpies in the SANFL league competition from 2014.

It is awaiting written confirmation from the SANFL of the terms of the proposal. Once it has received the written proposal it is the club’s intention to be able to provide a more detailed response later today.

The club will hold a members information night at the Allan Scott Power Headquarters on Monday 9 September at 5.30pm to discuss the model and engage with the Port Adelaide football community on this very important decision.

The Port Adelaide Football Club’s Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday to reconsider the revised proposal.

The Port Adelaide Magpies will be allowed to play in the SANFL next year

Port Adelaide can keep the Magpies and all the Magpies' extra teams - reserves and under-age with their recruiting zones - for just one more year.

The SANFL league directors today rejected the Port Adelaide Football Club's push for a Power AFL reserves team in the SANFL league competition - and an "academy" team in the SANFL reserves competition.

The SA Football Commission and league directors have told Port Adelaide they can put their excess AFL players in the SANFL next year and keep the full-scale Magpies next year.

What do you think? Have your say below now!

But from 2015 the Port Adelaide system must mirror exactly that of the Crows - an AFL league side, an AFL reserves side in the SANFL league competition and nothing else. Port Adelaide would have to claim "top-up" players for its AFL reserves team in the same way the Crows will - from SANFL rivals or from amateur and country clubs.

Port Adelaide's board will meet on Tuesday to consider this proposal.

If the board rejects, the SANFL league directors can force Port Adelaide's hand by revoking the Magpies licence.

Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas issued this statement after the league directors' meeting: "The Port Adelaide Football Club confirms that the SANFL league directors met this morning and voted to agree to amendments to an AFL reserves model which would enable the club's non-selected AFL listed players to represent the Magpies in the SANFL league competition from 2014.

"It is awaiting written confirmation from the SANFL of the terms of the proposal. Once it has received the written proposal it is the club's intention to be able to provide a more detailed response later today."

Yeah for one year and then we have the bastardised Crows Model.

Seems threats are the only way AFLSA can get things done, Somehow i don't see Port rolling over to the threat of their license being revoked like the 6 others. IMO this gives Port another 12 months to come up with a plan to F&^$ over AFLSA.
They will put their juniors in SAAFL and won't be bothered if AFLSA take their zone, They will work the whole state to take talent for their SAAFL side

So what is the difference between doing this in 2015 or doing it for 2014? Might as well just shut up shop and do the Crows model next year if that is the way they want to go.

My guess is Port will accept. They'll see that Port's model works better than the Crows. Crows will swallow an SANFL club for 2015 and we'll be just like the WAFL.
