This was a C1 or C2 final. Hawkboy or Footy Smart might be able to confirm, it was the team J.T was coaching that year.

I assume you mean Jamie Thomas? He was the coach in that game against us in 08, it was our C grade and their D grade, I think that Ovingham played Modburys C grade after us on the same day from memory and Ovingham won?

Yeah, it was that day.

I reckon it was 08 because HV were in the GF at Campbelltown that day and I wasn't there, I was racing around to half a dozen different grounds to get Roots footage and that ball went out of bounds right in front of me, it even featured on the show the next week ;)

Anyhoo, moral of the story is that both clubs have had some shit luck on our ground. At least the bad run will end for one of them this week

Maybe they will draw and have a replay the next week at a different ground! 8)

Before last week I would have tipped SMOSH but Modbury looked pretty sharp Saturday and I'm tipping them in a close one, Not sure on forecast but if its wet it evens out more, IMO both sides are much better on a dry day, I wish it rained all finals because we definitely seemed to handle the wet better than both!

Drove past & had a look at HV oval yesterday afternoon IMO the oval looked ok however the middle needs work, can anyone from HV tell me if the middle of the oval will be rolled before the weekend?

Could be wrong, but I reckon last time Modbury played a GF at Hope Valley it ended up in a draw against TTG and I think TTG went on to win the replay? At least one side will have a happy moment from being at our ground after this week

That was in 09 and TTG was awarded a free kick and goaled after the siren to draw the match. The replay was a great game and with TTG leading at 3/4 time Modbury's coach put on all of his young players and told them to just run. Modbury piled on about 5 goals to nothing in the last 1/4 to win convincingly.

The SAAFL don't seem to have any concern about Div 8 and it shows.
Mind you the clubs still pays their fees to have sides in the division.

Without the players we'd have no league, and these head honchos changing match times around like theyd change furniture around, wouldnt have their esteemed admin jobs without the players, but yet it seems theyre quite happy to mess about with players livelihoods and mindsets on the the biggest week of all, the grand final week

No justice there lads

It is unfortunate, however with PNU and ROCS pulling there ovals out of availability, it puts a squeeze on fenced ovals that can be used.

Not sure about the centre square in answer to your question forloveofthegame, that's an answer for @S Demon

Last years Div 8 GF was at 12:15ish I believe also this was to enable SMOSH players to get back and watch thier A grade in the Div3 GF I believe, they have a prelim this year so this may be the reason, at the end of the day with only one Modbury side playing in the GF it shouldnt really matter the time, get to start the celebrations/drowning of sorrows earlier than normal ;)

Perhaps anyone who isn't happy with the above arrangements should want to give a solution with one pre-requisite that the ground must be gated. Then, if you can come up with something that might remotely work, perhaps phone your solution through to HQ. ;)

FC,
I'm sure working out grounds that are gated causes big issue especially when a couple of ovals pull out!! I still don't understand why the D's wouldn't play before the C's or B's before the A's in the division they play all year in!!

Changing the start time of a game is a big issue to those who work! Some people have to move heaven & earth with there jobs to play this great game.

I think we need to remember that we play this game because we love it and for social reasons etc, However it does not pay the bills and some people's jobs are not as flexible as others. I'm sure most of you would have had that boss that couldn't give a s#.. About your social life.

Should they be punished because they have a c##k of a boss?

Council has been contacted and a request put in for the oval to be mowed and rolled, however with the warmer weather this week, you would want a bit of mud in the middle, otherwise it will be like concrete. With the council doing their bit and Mother Nature doing hers with some rain on thursday, it should be cherry ripe for Saturday

I was down at the 'den' tonight with a mate of mine who plays c grade for them.

He has played 14 games 4 them and he along with 10 blokes got dropped so th 'b' grade can retain their fitness....

Surely the rules can't allow that?
