Same as usualmate. Back to back on Sundays at Aami, the SANFL seem hell bent on minimising crowds.

Sundays are fine with me but the whole double header setup at AAMI is crap.
The SANFL have missed out on a chance of getting some decent crowd figures with their backward thinking.

Im all for finals at suburban grounds.
Atmosphere at AAMI is crap and personally Im not a fan of the double headers.
Id prefer home ground advantage but if this couldnt happen id still like games at suburban venues.
Would much rather Norwood v Eagles at say Richmond or Alberton.
If finals were at suburban grounds you would get maybe 3-4,000 at each game wheras at AAMI you would be lucky to get 6-7000 combined.

Only a tinfoil hatted conspiracy theorist would think that the SANFL had deliberately run down crowds so they could get it to the stage where they could insert AFL reserves teams without any fuss.

Here I am as I post this.

Why not have this weeks games and the finals on Saturdays when we get better finals crowds? (And the prelim the Fri night before the AFL GF)
Its not like Geelong v Freo will impact on the crowds next Saturday!
Idiots.

Like the idea of a Friday night prelim next year at Adelaide Oval or Norwood/Richmond (Closer to the City then other night venues) Other finals should be at Suburban grounds which would create a great atmosphere. Rule should be because the crows promised to play away each week they should even have to when they get a home final.

The problem with having the finals at different grounds, or at different times would be ensuring television coverage.
Aunty isn't going to provide blocks of time for matches on two separate days, nor are they going to set up a crew at two different grounds. I would also think the double header is an attempt to attract neutral supporters.

However atmosphere at AAMI for these finals is definitely rubbish.

I would be shocked if Suburban finals don't happen next year.

ABC TV already does suburban finals for VFL & WAFL. Just that the SANFL contract for 2013 said at AAMI.

Not every VFL or WAFL final appears on TV

Even SANFL ones as the 1st semi & elim are sort of compressed.

Space for Media is not so much of an issue now
- with shortened season 1st two weeks of SANFL finals won't be on ABC radio or FIVEaa due to AFL commitments.

Personally would like the idea of home finals.

Means EVERY position in the five means something.

Would also enjoy promoting a home final to local community if the Eagles earned it.

Phil, I heard on the weekend that the GF date is likely to remain unchanged. Have you heard anything one way or the other on that front?

Based on what happened last week in the AFL, I'd be surprised & disappointed if each of the minor finals (and for that matter the GF) at Footy Park didn't get slightly larger than usual crowds— last ever chance for fans to see their club play there. And for the grannie, last ever game there of any description, as far as I know.

I'd be surprised if they did have suburban oval finals, would have been this year or never as we'll have Adelaide a oval next year which will be much more suitable than Footy Pk. Too many logistical probs with some grounds in September.

I thought the SANFL GF is staying at Footy Park for years.

Have not officially heard from the league re GF date next year

BUT

- If GF is 1st Sunday in October than shortened season means we start about April 18
(That is almost a month after AFL scheduled to start).

- Also issue of late finish for Crows & Power reserves players. AFL preference would be a mid Sept finish instead of early October to enable return for pre-season.

To me this really is the issue that really confirms this was the Crows riding roughshod over the SANFL, if there was enough evidence already. Surely we can run the comp how we see fit, and they can join it on those terms, especially as holding it in Oct has been pretty successful over the years.

Definitely the last two weeks should get a decent crowd.
Hopefully the AFLtiser builds it up like it really did the Powers last game, ie ad-bloody-nauseam.

But as ive stated before it is not the end of Football Park.
It is simply having the top story demolished and it will remain as a 35-40,000 seater stadium.
The SANFL GF and possibly other finals will remain there for many years.
I cant see the SANFL playing any games at Adelaide Oval

That's what I thought the original plans were too, but lately some things I've heard and read (admittedly in the media) seem to indicate the GF at AO, and if that were so, you'd think they'd go with suburban finals.
