HOGG PREMIER LEAGUE

1 - Captain Who? vs. 2 - Q Before You

The best two sides of the year duly squared off in what is a replay of last year's Hogg Premier decider. Captain Who will be shooting for history here as the first coach to go back to back premiers in the Hogg Premier League. The only side to go back to back in the Hogg is the Underdogs in the much lower ranked Piglet Shield back in the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Current scoring form points to a Q victory here and the main carnage factor for this particular Grand Final is the Freo factor. Both have Michael Barlow who survived the cull but the Captain is short a defender after Docker Michael Johnson was ruled out after a visit from the general. With both sides chock a block full of talent this match is going to be a close one but I reckon that Q Man can reverse last year's result and win his first Hogg Premier League title.

My tip - Q Before You

HOGG DIVISION II

1 - Ecky's Fevolas vs. 8 - TEAM_FISH

These two sides have been a dominant force during the last month of SuperCoach play with Ecky's Fevolas muscling their way to the top of the ladder and all the way into the Grand Final. TEAM_FISH have had their ups and downs throughout the year and have performed well when it mattered. FISHY has joined Ecky in Hogg Elite calculations in what has been a very strong finish to the year for the FISH.

I have the Fevs slightly ahead overall in this one with a better looking combination with the only posisble weakness being that of Pittard in as cover for the suspended Hartlett. For the FISH they have been bitten by the Freo curse. Ibbotson is back so FISH has a decision on whether to play Terlich or Duffield with the hope that they can outscore Pittard. The problem for FISH is his 'Pittard' is in the higher scoring zone of the midfield with Fyfe out he has to rely on rookie Swan Tom Mitchell to cover for him.

This slight pre-game setback for the underdog makes it tougher for FISH to win this premiership.

My Tip - Ecky's Fevolas

HOGG DIVISION IV

2 - eddieslittleindians vs. 4 - Blighty Teasdale

These two teams have qualified for the Grand Final by defeating the number one ranked team in the Hogg Bens Roflsbergers so this premiership will have been won the hard way for the eventual winner. When the original seeded lineups were named for this division other posters were quick to install MAY-Z as the favourite for the title and he hasn't disappointed by making the Grand Final.

Blighty Teasdale's claim to fame is that he was once the number one ranked SuperCoach in the land. Only Spiro's sharks have that sort of SuperCoach cred when they won the thousand dollars one week for outscoring everyone in SuperCoach land. Blighty's strength in recent weeks has been the quality of his coverage..the loss of Mundy this week will be offset by the inclusion of Mundy...little to no points will be lost on that move. However, the loss of POD ruckman Zac Clarke is a different matter entirely. Blighty's cover for him is promising Collingwood ruck Brodie Grundy. While Grundy looks the goods he is an unproven quantity in SuperCoach and represents a genuine weak link in this grand final if McAlmanac doesn't have any trades left.

Looking at the indians, there doesn't appear to be a weak link at all. I would hate to be playing against this lineup this weekend if I had to cover anyone. Even with trades Blighty is going to struggle to get up here.

My tip - eddieslittleindians

Hogg Division V

2 - Venomous Geckos vs. 4 - Regards, REB

Looking at these two teams I'm kicking myself that my Strutties went out in straight sets. Both sides are pretty solid here but they both have the same weakness, a donut in the backline. The Geckos have Heppell and Regards has Harbrow so the attention then moves to who will cover for these players. Having a look at Regards they have no coverage as Campbell Heath is out as well. At least the Geckos have The Hoon to fill in so every point he can score against Carlton this week is pure bonus for Callum.

Looking at the rest of the lineups Regards has a better midfield and forward line with the Geckos having to rely on Brent Staker (not the worst but not a gun) as the Fwd 6 and also the unpredictable Robbie Gray in the mids. The Geckos have a number of inconsistent players but they would all have to have down weeks to stop Squidley's backline donut from becoming a decisive factor.

My tip - Venomous Geckos

Hogg Division VI

1 - Straycat Strut vs. 4 - Jays Jocks

The last time these two sides met the result was a draw which gave the Strutties the week off. While the Jocks were not lowered by this tight game they had to pull up their strides to fight through and qualify for this rematch. The problem my Strutties have is that Walters and Fyfe have copped a visit from the General while Andrew Walker returns from his bout of gastro to rack up the points for the Jocks.

This match could well be determined by the trade the Jocks use to replace Fyfe. If he gets it right he wins the flag but if he gets it wrong then the Strut could surprise and break through for what would be my first ever Hogg Shield win after copping 13 Grand Final losses in the Shield since 2007.

The Jocks look too strong and he has the dry powder to finish off the season with a bang - and the Division VI title.

My tip - Jays Jocks

2013 PIGLET SHIELD

2 - REBCats vs. 3 - sharks

The Piglet Shield (my family league) is a different type of comp with no relegations or promotions and is an invite only event. This league has been dominated by Premier League side Underdogs in recent seasons and this is the first time that Gibbo hasn't been in the Grand Final of the Piglet since the 2009 season when Hondo won the first ever Piglet Shield.

This year three sides with Hogg Elite aspirations have dominated the competition and the sharks knocked out the Underdogs last week. In a Hawthorn-Collingwood-Geelong Rock/Scissors/Paper parallel the sharks have the wood on the Underdogs but the REBCats have the wood on the sharks so Spiro has done me a favour and knocked out my kryptonite Underdogs.

To onfield matters the sharks must cover missing Docker Micheal Johnson while the REBCats will go in full strength with Andrew Walker returning to the side. The sharks have also been playing (the missing this week) Vardy in the ruck on the field for a number of weeks which suggests to me that trades are a thing of the past for Spiro. This could well be the long overdue breaking of my Hogg Shield duck against a team I have a good record against.

My tip - REBCats

2013 BUNNY BOWL

1 - FOOTYLEDGENS vs. 5 - Team LEO

With Nutkickers and Onegameatatimers failing to shine int he finals, the two brothers will play off in the last ever Bunny Bowl Grand Final. Ten year old Team LEO can create a Hogg record for the youngest coach to ever win a Hogg Premiership if they can defeat the FOOTYLEDGENS. The current holder of this honour is FOOTYLEDGENS who won the inaugural Division I title back in 2008 at the age of 12. If both sides are at full strength the LEDGENS are the better combination but lady luck has smiled on the younger sibling.

Cub has no coverage for Hannebury and Mundy and will take a donut into the Grand Final. Not all is lost for the LEDGENS but you have to back a team without a donut every time. I'm tipping that LEO will rewrite the record books and will be the youngest ever Hogg winner.

My tip - Team LEO

Congratulations and good luck to all Grand Final teams. Many will be hating Ross Lyon this week even more than usual. Out of all the teams I've reviewed tonight FOOTYLEDGENS seems to have copped it the worst.

Captain Who? Vs Has Been

The two Daniels’ survive the Preliminary finals to try to ascend to the second Hogg Champions League title.

Has Been was here last year and just missed out on championship success and tells me he has learnt from last year’s finals failures and has left himself plenty of trades for this year’s finals series. This is now being witnessed with this coach being able to reconstruct his defence and ensure he has good backups on every line.

Captain Who? is last year’s Premier League titleholder and this week attempts to pick up the double of 2012 Premier and Champions League champion. He has been able to work his way through the finals with good tactics and fast moves but has some problems coming into Grand Final week with Heppell and Clisby still in his backline and only Wilson as cover. I am also worried about the consistency of his Ruck division and I think he could really come a cropper if they misfire together.

I predict another Thunderer in One Club Player's team Has Been, to keep the Champions trophy in the Green and Gold for another year.

Whilst Hawkins didn't help it wasn't his fault. Deliberately kept the same team last week for the 2nd highest score in the Div - Heath Shaw and Dustin Martin arent popular names in my house anymore (f'n Heath Shaw does it to me every time!!!!!!)

80 from Grundy will be a bonus. But so many captains to choose from.

I'm in 5/5 grand finals, have won promotion and qualified for Hogg Elite (barring a catastrophe) so no matter what happens - it's been a successful season.

Good luck to all grand final Supercoaches.

Thats a fair summary REB - Fyfe out has hurt me but it will still be close and may well hinge on the Captaincy. I'm hoping my Supercaptain Joel Selwood will help get me over the line as he has in the last three weeks. [-o<

Yep, I reckon captains and any late withdrawals will probably decide it. I presume you are also out of trades Fish?
