Race for 8th

9th Carlton 40pts 107.0%
Must beat Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium to get the eighth spot or its fate rests in the hands of North Melbourne and Brisbane.

10th Brisbane Lions 40pts 89.1%
The fact is that after sacking Michael Voss they can still sneak into the eight. Would have to beat Geelong on the road and hope Carlton loses to Port.

11th North Melbourne 36pts 120.2%
Faces the Pies on Sunday, a day after the Carlton and Brisbane games, so the Roos will know whether beating Collingwood has anything to offer by the time they take the field. The Roos have a far superior percentage to the Blues and Lions.

12th Adelaide 36pts 103.7%
The Crows can play finals if they thrash West Coast. If the Blues suffer a heavy loss and the Roos and Lions both get rolled, a big Adelaide win in Perth could catapult it into the most unlikely of finals spots.

13th West Coast 36pts 99.3%
Needs Carlton, North, Adelaide and Brisbane to lose, while belting Adelaide to make up the big percentage gap on the Blues.

I hope the crows get their but the Blues are in the box seat. Could still make it with a close loss

I'v done the sums on this, for Adelaide to go above Carlton the total margin combined between the Crows and Power winning has to be 63 points. e.g if Power win by 45points Crows have to win by 18points

Havnt gone back through the records but would whoever pinches 8th have the worst win/loss record to play finals in recent years?
Hoping North can pinch it as I think they are the only team capable of not being embarassed in the finals.

And they are definitely the best side outside of the eight, lost 6 games by under 6 points. The ninth placed side could well be three games out and get in!

Brisbane had 10 wins 40pts in 95 and again in 97 had 10 wins and a draw 42pts. Essendon also had 10 wins and a draw 42pts in 09

Richmond the biggest loser out of this. The 1st year 9th would've got them somewhere, they did more than they had to.
On top of that they will now get a Melboune club, either Carlton who they have struggled to beat for years or Kangaroos who gave them a flogging not long ago.
Looks alot tougher than it was 5 hours ago when they were playing Port in melbourne

Don't North need to beat Collingwood? Carlton will get in even if they lose

In all seriousness this is the most likely and would be a very apt result for Carlton, North, Brisbane, Crows and Eagles. The fact that basically not one of them will win when they are all playing their biggest game of the year. Sums up these 5 clubs seasons really

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict one of the Crows or Eagles will win
