And this one here where a Fremantle player, played a half last Saturday for Peel before being taken out to be the travelling emergency for the Giants game on sunday. Peel went on to lose by 6 points

Well given the Crows won't be aligned to a specific club then who cares if they pull a player from their ressies half way through a game? Clubs here have taken ressies players from games due to a late injury etc. and played league?

North Adelaide will when its the last game of the season and you need the Crows to beat someone for you to play finals.
And your last point just backs up everything that has been said about this debacle, The crows shouls be in the ressies comp where ressies belong

There's that word again. Used extensively during the Commissions' recent discussions with Norwood and West Adelaide.

Not sure if you were being sarcastic OTR, but agree with DOOL is dead right.
Or the situation which could easily happen next year. Walker coming back from injury, Crows 2's up or down by two goals at half time, and they sit Walker out for the rest of the game. Trying to win, my arse.
Yes, it happens in reserves competitions, but not the A Grade of a competition.

Did you see West Adelaide's side for the last game of the season against the Eagles last year? That was a farce as well. West were resting for finals and Eagles had to win to make 5th, which they did.

But their goal is to win the SANFL premiership, not so those rested players can play in another comp.

Dead right there Jimmy. West were doing everything they could in their best interests to win the SANFL premiership.

The Crows would be doing everything in their best interests to get that player fit to play one game of AFL football

Therefore the question is

Does a player winning the SANFL premiership only equal one game of AFL football?

Just a pair of imbeciles from a club that blew it's cashed up position on recruiting looking for a way out.

Interesting that it comes from the club that pulled the piss out of East Perth's AFL alignment by putting West Coast Eagles on the scoreboard when they played the Royals.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

This is what I can see happening over the next 2-10 years

* SANFL to be rebranded AFL South Australia, probably after being bailed out by the AFL after Adelaide Oval does not provide the promised river of gold
* SANFL Reserves competition abolished
* SANFL League competition to become U/23 with 6 overage "leadership" players for non-AFL Reserves teams
* Much lower SANFL Salary Cap
* Port Adelaide to be restructured to match Adelaide Reserves
* Additional funding provided by AFL to school football, particularly at Secondary level
* The term "State League" replaced with "Development League" or "D-League"
* Full season SANFL U/16 competition
* Overage player rule in SANFL U/18 abolished, with these players loaned to the AFL Reserves teams

What this will result in:

* A likely SAFA-style competition established in metro Adelaide, possibly with some existing SANFL clubs involved
* Junior club football almost non-existant in metro Adelaide
* A boon for Country football and cashed-up metro community clubs, with a much higher standard at that level
* SANFL becoming a purely development league for the AFL, success determined by number of draftees rather than premierships (ie TAC Cup)

Pretty sad really, but I am not sure there is any other direction it will head from here.

Yep Moore got taken from North 10 minutes after the Ressies started so Williams had to be taken from the Reserves game to play league. The Power did apologise re the very late notice. That situation is very rare in all honesty and not helped that, despite a few calls, there were no other North Ressies or 18's available given they were all off elsewhere.

The article suggests to me that Peel picked him knowing he was only going to play the 1st half and therefore knew they were diminishing their chances of winning.
Adelaide will do the same thing if they want some game time into someone but also need an emergency the next day.

As it currently sits with SANFL clubs i imagine if they are told someone can only play a half they dont select him in the league side but in the reserves instead.
Adelaide will have to play him in the league side as there is no other option making a mockery of the comp again

Agree. There needs to be provisions for Adelaide listed players to play SANFL Reserves if they are not committing to a full game.

Ridiculous, I know, having to put these rules in place. "We need you to try, but not be too good, or too bad".
