The top eight has been decided after 16 rounds in Hogg Division IV after Nothing But Class cleaned up the Trotters and DAISYS DUDS shut the gate on the rest after defeating Team LEO. It might be a good time to save any remaining trades this week in this Divvy as you try and plot the demise of the best team in the Hogg Bens Rolfsbergers, or at the very least try to plot your way into getting a promotion into Hogg Division III next season.

eddieslittleindians look set for a quality Qualifying Final match up against Blighty Teasdale and the winner of that one will earn promotion. It is hard to see any team who finishes fourth knocking off the Rolfs who had a 'bad week' by only scoring 2273. Come on mate that is shit! DAISYS DUDS and Clark Kents look to be the best sides outside the top four to have a crack at promotion as I can't have HOLLANDS HEROS making it through in this company. He's done well to possibly land a double chance spot despite not scoring as much as many others but there is a step up in class from here on in.

The Hotshots cleaned up the Spideys in their attempt at avoiding relegation but they will need to be a win ahead of Duromine Dependent to avoid the drop as the Dependents have the superior percentage. Seeing as the Hotshots play in form DAISY while Duromine Dependent play against an out of form Nutkickers, it looks like Hotshots will be heading back to Division V next season.

eddieslittleindians announced themselves as the main opposition for the Rolfsbergers after thrashing a disappointing Blighty Teasdale in the last round of matches. With finals spots already decided a lot of teams didn't have all that much to play for and the top four look to be the teams that are going to go up. Perhaps Moe's onegameatatimers and DAISYS DUDS can challenge for a promotion but the Nutkickers have appeared to have lost interest and HOLLANDS HEROS have been punching above their weight all season and are probably fortunate to be in the eight at the expense of the FNQ Trotters.

The teams expected to go down (in red) did so with the Hotshots unable to avoid the drop. Team LEO did their best to be relegated and were well beaten by the CHAMPS in the last round but his good early season form means he'll be back in Division IV next season. Mickey's Glory Shed earned the wooden spoon in some style after picking up a donut in the W column and they will be joined by Media Park and the Spideys as teams headed for Division V.

This comp looks headed for a indians v Rolfsbergers final but the other two promotion spots are up for grabs.

Hogg Division IV Finals Week One

1st Qualifying Final
Blighty Teasdale 2332
Ben Rolfsbergers 2325

2nd Qualifying Final
eddieslittleindians 2193
Clark Kents 2052

1st Elimination Final
DAISYS DUDS 2035
Nutkickers 1799

2nd Elimination Final
onegameatatimers 2082
HOLLANDS'S HEROS 2011

McAlmanac's Blighty Teasdale has pulled off a finals boilover knocking off the top scoring team in the Hogg in their Qualifying Final to earn instant promotion to Hogg Division III next season. The high scoring Rolfsbergers will have to wait another week to earn what has looked rightly theirs all season long after coughing up a seven point defeat to the former number one ranked SuperCoach team in the land. eddieslittleindians won as expected but only after copping a fair dent in their normal scoring as with many sides this week. Clark Kents couldn't take advantage and it is the indians who go up to Division III with Blighty this week.

The knockout finals featured two sides that looked unlikely to progress and these games went to script with Nutkickers burning out in dismal style to be a week one casualty. TSG now has to be content with Bunny Bowl success but his Division IV campaign is over. Moe's onegameatatimers will be doing just that as they attempt to climb into Division III but they'll have to win a big Semi Final in order to get there.

Despite Moe's earlier season heroics and the solid form of DAISYS DUDS, I predict that Bens Rolfsbergers and Clark Kents will win the Semis next week and go up with Blighty and the indians.

Division IV Semi Finals Preview

1st Semi Final 1 - Bens Rolfsbergers vs. 5 - DAISYS DUDS

In a tough break for daysofourlives, his DUDS need to defeat the highest scoring team in the entire Hogg in order to gain promotion into Division III next season. DAISY is in it so he can win it but even in defeat the Rolfsbergers still racked up an impressive score as they do most weeks. Going on last week's numbers DAISY needs to find another three hundred points so it's a tall order for my favourite Hawker. Looking at the Rolfsbergers, the only possible weakness is Terlich in the backline but he's on field for the DUDS as well. Ben is going so well it can afford to have guys like Buddy and Priddis on the bench while the DUDS have the injured Hodge and Shuey and is having to carry point scoring machine Zorko. The DUDS have more gaps than an Englishman's smile and that's not the look to aim at when trying to avoid Camila Parker Bowles or defeat at the hands of the best coach in the Hogg. My tip - Bens Rolfsbergers.

2nd Semi Final 3 - Clark Kents vs. 6 - Onegameatatimers

Moe recovered from a shit start to the year to be a real contender in this comp and face up to Clark Kents who have been pretty solid all year long. There was a mere thirty points between these sides last week so this one is going to be really close game with promotion the prize for the winner. The Kents will need Buddy and Ibbo back and if they play it's going to be tough for Moe as the rest of the Clark Kents team is solid as. The Onegameatatimers have done well to get this far but look a little suspect at the back. In a close match I'm leaning towards Clark Kent proving to be Moe's Kryponite. My tip - Clark Kents.

Just had a look im only 90 points down with projected scores. I have put the VC on Westhoff (150 v GC early in year). Griffen to tear the crows a new one if it doesnt work, the rolfsbergers dont have him.
Selwood has a very inflated PS given his history against WCE, theres 40 points.

Hibberd, Hanley, Shaw vs Thompson, Heppel, McKenzie
J Selwood, Barlow, Martin vs Griffen, Hodge, Shuey.
Minson vs Maric
Rockliff, Roughead, Bartel vs Westhoff, Cloke, Staker
He may use Franklin in his forward line in place of one of the 3 above or Kennedy

I think my tactics are the best i can do with what i have.

Semi Final Reviews

1st Semi Final

Ben Roflsbergers 2207
DAISYS DUDS 1961

The Roflies got back on to the winning list after accounting for an unlucky DAISYS DUDS in the 1st Semi Final. There were times when the Minor Premier looked vulnerable but everytime DAISY seemed to have the upper hand another player would be subbed out or put in a shitter for him. Luke Shuey, Dyson Heppell and finally and underwhelming performance from Captain Griffen all combined to sink the DUDS who did everything they could to bring down the number one team in the Hogg. Benny meanwhile had a few problems of their own with Shaw and Martin but still managed to score a very respectable 2207. Unlucky for DAISY but he'll remain in Division IV next season while the Roflies will go up to Division III and should also qualify for Hogg Elite and Hogg Champions next season.

2nd Semi Final

Clark Kents 1966
Onegameatatimers 1869

Both of these sides were well below their beat in what was a SuperCoach carnage road and the Clark Kents will breathe a sigh of relief here as they have dodged the bullet and earned promotion to Hogg Division III next season. Moe just couldn't get any POD one hundred point players and the efforts of Ivan Maric (118) and Josh P Kennedy (finally with 136) being decisive contributors for the Clark Kents. Clark will go on to play against Blighty Teasdale for the right to contest the Division IV Premiership and a spot in the Hogg Champions League next season.

Division IV Prelim Previews

1st Preliminary Final 4 - Blighty Teasdale vs. 3 - Clark Kents

Four very good sides playing off for the two available Hogg Champions League invites that go to the winners of these games. Another prize on offer of course is the Hogg Division IV title and McAlmanac went a long way to securing that with an upset win over the leading team in the Hogg Shield this season in Bens Roflsbergers. The Blightys face the mighty Clark Kents who have donned superhero garb during many matches this season and are another formidable opponent. Having said that though, Blighty could well be the kryptonite. They are awesome on every line with the possible exception of the defence as Ibbotson and Heppell have not been named. If Blighty is tradeless then Staker gets that Def 6 gig. The problem for Clark is that he has Ibbo and Heppell as well. But he also has Webster and Thurlow and that backline will either be a bakery or Clark has to select wisely at the trade table. There has been a lot of carnage in recent weeks and with Clark having to do it the hard way maybe he doesn't have the two trades he needs to make a game of this. My tip - Blighty Teasdale.

2nd Preliminary Final 2 - eddieslittleindians vs. 1 - Bens Roflsbergers

The number one and number three ranked teams in the entire Hogg face off in this final which 'on paper' is the best one going around in the Hogg this weekend. Both of these sides have been pointscoring monsters all season long but the loser of this match will only qualify for the Champions League next year if someone doesn't accept their invitation! The Indians have been quite brilliant all year and I hope they have the minimum of one trade they need to prevent a donut in the backline. If they have two trades then they can afford to bench Staker and take it up to the Hogg leaders who suffered an inexplicable lapse in the Qualifying Final against Blighty which has consigned the Rolfs to the harder Prelim. Bens side is awesome. No Heppell, no Hartlett, no Ibbotson. They can chuck Clisby on the field and wait and see on Shaw who has been bog ordinary for weeks. In the midfield having Priddis on the bench is a luxury that few of us can afford. This means it is not the disaster it is for some if Trent Cotchin gets the visit from the general that I think is coming. This will be a cracker but it's hard to see the Rolfs losing. My tip - Bens Rolfsbergers.

Hogg Division IV Preliminary Finals Review

1st Preliminary Final

Blighty Teasdale 2491
Clark Kents 2248

McAlmanac's Blighty Teasdale has earnt himself an invite to the Hogg Champions League to go along with his promotion to Division III after his comfortable win over Clark Kents in the 1st Preliminary Final. Earlier in the season Blighty was in mid-table and not looking all that scary but he will go into the Grand Final as the form team of the comp after disposing of the Supermen by 243 points. Blighty had tons everywhere in the forward line and both of his rucks in Clarke and Goldstein posted 130 plus and only Gary Ablett and his former team mate Bartel let the side down even if the defence was dependable rather than brilliant. The Kents somehow racekd up 2248 despite not covering for Ibbotson and Heppell and having several Swan players in the mids who were shut down by the Catters. By not covering the donuts Clark was never really in this match and he may have exhausted his trades prior to this match. Either that, or he has a life.

2nd Preliminary Final

eddieslittleindians 2470
Ben Roflsbergers 2438

The indians have got the job done against the highest ranked team in the Hogg Shield with an upset 32 point win over the mighty Roflsbergers who only won one of their three finals after dominating the minor round in this Division. May-Z went through to the Grand Final after toppling the mighty Rofls. Now that SuperCoach is open already it's quite difficult to see what the winning move here was. Boris Enright's ton in the backline proved to be fairly important and that ruck combination of Minson and Goldstein could have been the decisive factor as they netted 286 points between them. This is a thirty point advantage of the Cox/Minson combination that the Roflsbergers had and add the additional ton in the backline and it's advantage indians.

Blighty Teasdale and eddieslittleindians have won through to the Hogg Champions League next year and could well produce the highest scoring Grand Final in the Hogg next week. The top end of this league is very high as evidenced by the calibre of teams who have missed out on higher honours in the last two weeks.
