I appreciate some of the thoughts taht are being thrown out here as me and my lads were coping the full force of this last weekend. In having a chat with FS i can fully understand their position here. Now im not one to be on the umpires side as most would know i have rather negative feelings sometimes to their officiating. Modbury like most clubs have in the past and still do have issues attracting the right sort of people to be club umpires. I do believe that he doesnt have anything to do with Modbury other than take his fee and go home after the game wearing a star treck t shirt sitting cozy in his mummy's car. Must have to get back for afternoon tea at the home or something. That aside i dont think Modbury should be dragged through the mud over it (pardon the punt as their oval is quite nice this time of year). Hopefully they can get someone else to do the job for them next year. The league would also need to start lookign at this more. You cant just set the rules and expect people to follow without regard or follow up. Come out and watch a few of these games and work with those clubs to attract the best assets and we move on.

What a load of bullshit Robb_Stark, what are you on :weedman:

Can't believe the Amateur League havn't investigated this bloke years ago, they should of had someone out there watching his CHEATING antics.
Very poor form by this Cheat & the League.

Settle down Princess, he is no orphan.
The standard of club umpires can be very poor at all levels.
The problem is the blatant and our B Grade Umpire is blatant.
The club is aware of the problem, but it is near impossible to recruit umpires and even more so good umpires.
I do think our Umpire is trying to emulate the Pembroke guy, who is the worst I have ever seen.

Interesting thread here. The league will apparently act on verbal communication from some clubs to stop club umpires from officiating, it happened to me LOL. One club complained, twice I believe and I was told I was not to umpire the last four C grade games of the year and the exec appointed league umpires to replace me. No discussions, no right of reply, no assistance offered to improve my woeful performances etc. All I can say is that I must have been utterly crap and cheated beyond belief :D . Apparently if you make enough noise the league will no doubt apply the same principles.

All I can say is between Modbury, TTG and Eastern Parks (Face plate guy) B grade umpires over the past 2 seasons, thank god they're not in division 2 any more.
One suggestion is if you are finding it hard to find a regular umpire who will commit, why not ask the NEMJFA (Junior umpires). The B grade umpires are paid, they are not volunteers so I find it hard to believe you can not find someone. I suggest trying harder

would need to be a lot of changes for this to happen NEMJA umpires have a 0 tolerance for back chat and abuse compared to current B grade umpires...supporters would have to learn to shut it players would be yellow carded and red carded more often the league would be under siege with complaints

Doesn't matter who they put in there, players playing in finals need to have played 50% or greater in the lower level. They would have had to start loading up weeks ago for this to have any benefit. Plus there 19th man (their umpire) won't be there in finals!

Looking at the teams it doesn't seem the case. A couple of the younger guys have come down, but thats it.

My sentiments exactly beactive. In those 1000 plus games Peter has been in 20 Grand Finals for 17 flags, in including Walkies 2009 Premiership. Sheff has been able to keep us in Div 2 for consecutive years which the club has not been able to do for some time.

Thanks for you coaching and passion Sheff =D>

With the home final & double chance in the bag will Portland rest some guns today v SMOSH?
SMOSH can't afford to go in undermanned with a double chance hinging on the result for them aswell.
I'd be thinking the Thunder will freshen up players for a big assault come finals, therefore SMOSH to win by 30pts.
