The average crows side will be made up of players in the following categories
Category A- aging players who are dropped and are trying to get back into the AFL team (Porplyzia, Callinan etc)
Category B- guys who are generally the fan’s whipping boys when they’re in the AFL team. The yo-yo men (Martin, Jaensch, Tambling, McKernan etc)
Category C- guys who haven’t made the level yet and perhaps never will (McIntrye, Ellis-Yolman, Dowdell etc)
Category D- guys with some potential, who may have played the odd AFL game (Hartigan, Shaw etc)
Category E- Young blokes not up to SANFL league level yet, unknown to the average footy follower (Siggins, Atkins, Orval etc)
Category F- A genuinely good player coming back from injury (Walker etc)
Category G- Early draft pick who will play a few games in the SANFL before making AFL debut (Crouch etc)
Category H- Unknown top ups not up to league standard.
Categories F and G will hold some appeal to the average supporter (but these players will only be in the team for a short while) and to a lesser extent A and D. The rest..meh. Early on in the season they will pull some semi-respectable crowds. The novelty will be there, the weather will be good, a few night games at Parade or the Bay will be scheduled by the SANFL to help attendances in an attempt to justify their inclusion. Then reality will hit home.
