Fill in your other clubs !

So the Crows play Carlton at home. Are the Crows saying their supporters will go to see the reserves as well ?

Norwood polled their supporters and it appears the general conclusion was most would not renew membership if the Crows were in the SANFL comp. Personally I would still go to Norwood games but would join the vast majority and boycott Crows games.
I will never ever ever attend another Crows AFL game again.

Quite the opposite if i read it correctly.... only 11.7% said they wouldnt re-join if the AFL teams were in.

At least they've done some research and member consultation.

Maybe they could call West Lakes to explain how it's done.

If the Crows and Power have teams in the League competition, will you still join as a member of the Norwood Football Club.

Yes
88.3% 567
No
11.7% 75

How do you get that?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I think the Survey shows the exact tone of the SANFL community! 3/4 of members Don't want it but 90% will still support their club because that is what loyal supporters do! good on the club for making the findings public. Although i personally think they needed a 3rd response for the last question being; i haven't decided yet.

A lot of Norwood members wanted a question .....
If Norwood voted YES would you renew your membership. That would have gotten a different response.

Not sure where you drew your general conclusion from? 88% said they'd renew membership.

A 12% drop is still a pretty big hit for any club to take in one year

if the Crows get in that means the club voted yes.....

But many people wouldn't have realised this (if it indeed is 100% true) when they voted for the poll.

Is that correct? So to come up with an analogy, would you stay loyal to a partner you love that constantly cheats on you and doesn't care less about your interests? I believe that loyalty is a two way street. Personally i am not prepared to to continuing supporting a club that ignores the wishes of its membership. If that makes me disloyal or not a true supporter then i will wear it.

X2

There's being loyal and then there's blind loyalty.

When you have to many blond loyal supporters that's where clubs get in trouble because board members become a law to themselves and have no accountability

Everyone is talking about the crowd declines WHEN Crows come in....

it's already happening ....

two SANFL clubs are already averaging 1,100+ less per home game in 2013 than they did two years ago in 2011.

For one that is a decline of 34.7% the other 28%.

And that would have a fair bit today with this long running debate.
Hasn't been good for anyone.

Yep my interest levels have dropped until this shit is sorted out which has meant I have missed more games than ever before

Also Centrals copped home game which clashed with the magpies/power and multiple games in massive downpour

Obviously one of those clubs is Glenelg with form being a major component of that decline. You need to look at an overall picture (and preferably over multiple seasons too) to have any confidence in trends. With small samples, things like form, weather and clashes with AFL games make it impossible to make sweeping statements like whether the overall interest in the competition is up or down.

My gut feeling is though that crowds are down this year, even allowing for the weather and form of some of the traditionally higher attended clubs. And as was asked previously, is the damage to the "brand" of the SANFL from this debate already having a negative effect?

Without doubt IMHO.

2011 SANFL crowds were the best in the "Power era"

since then there has been
- introduction of every AFL game live on Fox Footy
- Friday night AFL games now much earlier on Channel 7
- increase in SANFL entry fees
- wettest July in 20 years
- AFL reserves debate

every club has had a drop since that time.

Hard to believe in just 2 years suddenly everyone has lost interest.

Hang on Phil, with respect...

Your own position is somewhat jaded by your role with WWTFC, is it not?
You were referred to more than once by Slavin on Thursday Night - so I think it is in your own interests to support the move.

Personally, I am surprised by the claims that this won't affect younger supporter numbers - the kids I deal with only know AFL & very little else.
So the claims that Junior Supporter numbers will be minimally affected by Port & The Crows entering the competition is questionable to say the least.
