Sorry, not trolling guys, but well done to Mitts and the shoe boys on a terrific win over Dingers powerhouse Vikings. For what it's worth Mitts took over the reigns from Dent at Townies so I'm sure it was a little special win for him and I was an assistant to both of them in one way, shape or another. The Towns are now up there nipping at both their heels so it's fair to say both gentleman had a bit to do with that success as well. I'll go now. Thanks.[/quote]

There is a delusional comment if ever seen one posted.........nice touch of Gary Ayres about it. Suppose you also had ‘a bit to do’ with Ashton Agar playing for Australia!!

Valleys have been hit by the injuries of late and couldn't beat a tough committed Noarlunga outfit

These lads dont like losing and next week will see a determined team head down the hill to take on Brighton - lets hope our GF buddies from last year put up more than a yelp this time rather than their Anzac Day effort

Likewise MF injuries have hit the Shoe all season and still missing Caudle/Dobrovolskis/Ridley/Shulz/Goldfinch/Thompson with the first 3 to return in the next week or two.

That's a great win by the shoes without those names. Well done to Mitton and the shoe boyd good to see things might not be so Valleys way come finals should be interesting.. Anyone think they can pick a Mail medal winner??

It was a very good win by the Shoeys
Big difference for Valleys in 2012 to 2013 is the injuries with season ending ones of late giving Dinger some grief. Back to back not looking as likely as it did a few months ago.
Johnny Eagleton must still be favourite for Mail medal back to back

I would like to congratulate the Cove Football Club on the running of the Under 8 carnival yesterday.
It was well catered for, with BBQ's on either side of the ground, ample parking and thank christ the weather was nice.
I hope the club made some $$, because the amount of organizing, ordering and time given by what looked like 6,000 volunteers would have given me conniptions

Well done!

A side bar:
Some clubs (or maybe coaches) should remember that mini's footy is supposed to be about FUN FOR THE KIDS, and I am pretty sure the prize yesterday was not a sheep station

Having said that, we were stationed in between Reynella & Morphettvale, and the parents of both teams & their respective coaches were fantastic, and very supportive of all teams around them and made for an enjoyable morning.

Cheers Moe. Glad you had a great day. The Cove did very well financially and the day was successful due to many Cove volunteers giving their valuable time on the day.

Unfortunately when you add a competitive element you'll get an element of ugliness. The real winners were the players who represented their clubs proudly and enjoyed themselves.

Bode would have to be the favourite, has had a great year so far.

I think the predictions of Valleys demise after one loss are a fraction premature, but credit to the Shoes who were extremely tough and committed.

Have only heard good things about the day at Cove, so well done to all who gave their time. Hope the competitive stuff was not over the top and all the kids had a ripping day. Well done Cove.

Not really sure where to post this. Believe this lad comes from BDOS to the Bays. Just cannot believe that this happened.

Is this not a disgrace? Selected to play SANFL senior footy and forced to play school boy footy. When is the SANFL and other bodies going to stand up to the colleges? Having watched the game on the weekend I am sure he would have gained nothing towards further development. One could suggest the Sacred Heat do not have the child's best interest at HEART..

Well I guess clubs know the ground rules when dealing with colleges, but doesn't make it right. On the upside though, they'll be out of college by the time they're 18. Then they have no say.

Seeing Minns firsthand on Saturday, he is a gun. Also has the hair to attract attention!! Jonny will poll well, but he has been heavily tagged by most clubs this year and I think that has curtailed him a bit, but still had a great year.

I am sorry I thought we on this thread should be interested in CLUB FOOTBALL and the development of club footballers not school boy football where they play for ???? then claim they developed a kid that a local club has developed. Schools bully and bluff parents and clubs with flimsy enrollment agreements which have no legal standing. How pompous of SHC to think that a school boys game is more important than a debut with an SANFL Club. Principal said " General Requirement that kids play for the school." What they do is threaten with expulsion from the school if you do not play. Not very catholic or caring behaviour.

I agree with your sentiment, but I've got no idea how to resolve it. If we insist the player plays for the club and not the school, doesn't that make it just as bad?
Should be up to the kid and his parents ideally, but why do most parents send their kids to SHC? It's because it's a recognised school for football development.
I'm pretty sure it's not about the religious education aspects.

What do you suggest as a solution?

More school footy during the week, freeing up the weekends for club footy including SANFL.

SHC beat their own drum about the football development. My observation watching them train and play is that SHC don't really develop at all. By the time these kids get to SHC the local clubs have done the developing and continue to do so when they are at the club.

Interesting observation - isnt the second Brighton U16s team that is playing in the Saturday comp mostly made up of Sacred Heart lads? Currently they are 7th on the ladder.

Yep they are having played 2 less games than rest of the comp.. I believe some have found that the standard of Saturday footy is better then may have been thought previously

I was referring to when the comp was a Sunday only comp.

Don't a lot of schools like SHC offer "scholarships" to these kids to entice them to come to their college mainly to play football?
