I've already said my point.

A legitimate AFL reserves competition will mean bigger lists for AFL clubs. Either through more players on the senior list, bigger rookie lists, or some sort of supplementary list system. If clubs have to up their list by 8-10 players each, which to cover for injuries you'd think would be the case, thats 140-180 players not currently in the AFL system.

The upkeep will come from AFL delistees (which effects the SANFL, less recruits in), other state leagues and of course the SANFL. I think it will come from more players like Kane Mitchell, Matthew Wright, Jarryd Cachia etc. who are ready to go than the 120th-180th best juniors in the country. As the SANFL houses a lot of these types, I think we'll see teams punt on your Luke Crane, Jeremy Clayton, Allen, Ezard etc. more often as ready made cover for injuries.

Im not sure how you can deny that under an official AFL reserves comp, that the SANFL will be raped of its talent. Are you that naive? Then again, 4-5 weeks ago you were scoffing at anyone that was suggesting that any of the SANFL directors would vote the Crows in.[/quote]

Oh that's right I remember when the afl reserves wound up in 93 a huge influx of players returning to SANFL in 1994. Not!!!!

50 players out of SANFL you are dreaming . Yet again we heard the same threat when Gc and gws were invented.

Btw how us that vote on the proposal looking ?????

The latest offerring from Rucciuto. In summary, what's best for the 2 AFL Clubs= what's best for footy in this state. Makes a lot of comments without much substance to them.

This is a much under recognised point in the whole argument. Over 100 players not in the AFL system suddenly were over a two year period and what impact did that have on the SANFL? Realistically the players that will be lost will not be the senior experienced types but kids. Sure there might be a handful of 24-28 year olds but it won't be many. The standard may fall a touch but would it be that significant? I doubt it. What you'll find is that a lot of kids who would otherwise have missed out on getting drafted and headed to country or amatuer leagues instead of the VFL, SANFL, WAFL etc. would be given a chance.

But a magnificent photo of LEH promoting the cause.

Interesting use of a North player to give a visual image of the SANFL somehow being in a crisis or something.

This, if true, is really good news. Especially for Richard Tambling, finally he is going to play in a competition suited to his talents.

You think now (reportedly) the bluff has been called (for want of a better term) Adelaide will negotiate into that position?

I think many of the SANFL clubs concerns, namely top up players, is not solved by that outcome.

Could/would be a better outcome IMO.

It is the sensible compromise from the current position, and the Crows genuine Plan B I believe.

Top up players isn't a key issue I don't believe, especially at Reserves level, would be able to find plenty of top ups from recently retired reserves players playing Ammo's or Country league that would love a short stint in the AFC system.

Not by people at the Club who watch a lot of football. It’s not so much the overall standard, it’s the type of bodies and experience the players will come up against. A1 is full of former SA league and reserves players, and the overall quality is pretty good.

Erm, what is the SANFL reserves made up of? Current SA league and reserves players....
