So does being the only state not to host an Australian qualifying round game, but potentially hosting an Australian QF game, help or hinder our chances of hosting the Indian Test Match a couple months before?

I believe it to be a hinderance. Melbourne, Sydney and Perth locked in to host test matches. It is between us and Brisbane for the other one. The Gabba will not host a WC final and so look to be the front runner for the other test match.

Give the quarter final to the GABBA and we will take the test thanks.
Couldnt give a crap about the hit and giggle stuff.
If we do lose the test hope we get a significant reduction in membership fees that year

Haha the SACA reduce membership fees. Unlikely. They don't choose the fixture.

Except for maybe losing the test it will probably be the SACA's biggest summer of international cricket

There's 5 ODI,s and 2 T20's in November 2014
Adelaide oval have got one of those T20s and one ODI against South Africa

Then there's the Test series against India in December/ January

And there's a Tri series in January and early February
Adelaide oval will get another Aussie game
Then there's the World Cup

Adelaide Oval will get
4 Australian ODI's (if Australia make Semi finals)
1 Australian T20I
3 non Australia World Cup matches
And potentially a test match

Im led to believe that SACA members get priority ticketing to the World Cup matches but will have to pay full price for the tickets. So the members will in effect get stuff all that season if we lose the test

Billion plus viewing in TV and you're kidding yourself if you think there won't be 30k plus there for the game.

Happy to be proven wrong but cant see it happening.
Does anyone know the crowd figures from similar matches in the 92 world cup? I reckon you could halve those figures and be about right.

i'll go watch whoever plays here. Shame we don't get an aussie group match, thats life... If we got one, people would complain we didn't get two.. India vs Pakistan will be a beauty though. Love 50/50. Much better then the 20/20 stuff. It will be a sell out imo.

Cricket World Cups are much more prestigious these days compared to when we last hosted. FFS they played pool matches in Regional Victoria in 1992.

Will be a big crowd for the India/Pakistan game may not sell out but will be the biggest one of the games we host. Quarter final will be shoe in for sold out and a massive day if Australia are playing

Correct, pool matches were played in Ballarat, Berri, Albury and Mackay in 1992. It would've been great to do something similar this time around, even if such games were between minnows.
