Recovery or some extra running? Definatley not a clever time to be putting extra km's in the legs with finals only around the corner.
Dont they have a fitness coach to tell them that?

my mate told me they are playing beach cricket tuesday and then volleyball thursday

And what will that achieve at this point of the year apart from unnecessary fatigue and bewilderment?

Must be something about Golden Grove.

Got a vampire buffet in your pants this week beeroclock ?? We've copped our share of smashings over the years. It comes and goes. Get over it

Is a vampire buffet what I had in my britches a few years ago at Salisbury oval?

Still waiting Choccies.

Sounds like the coaching staff need to read a basic sport psychology book.
I don't see the link between invoking pride in performance and running laps of the snake pit

If the team has cultural issues, effort issues etc, this is not something that can be fixed in a week. Group Dynamics is an important part of any good training program and the foundations and themes should be built across the season.

With finals only around the corner, my concern would be the lost time on the track and the effect that could have.

To each his own though

No Offence, but Basic sport Psychology??
We do have a cultural issue, we didn't win, that goes against our culture, and I meant a few extra laps at training, Pretty sure the Snake pit is for Pre-season, (no-one mentioned the snake-pit!)
Also effort IS something that can be fixed in a week exactly the same way it can be absent the week later, how does a team that is favored get upset by a team with more desire, this happens at all level of football. This does not mean there is any effort issues besides that particular week.

But, thanks for your input anyway.

I don't comment much on here but Rob Stark you have no idea and should probably shut up because you are making an idiot of yourself.... Div 4 - most of the players are clubmen and are playing for their club and mates... That's how you be successful not having players chasing a dollar!

I only mentioned snake bit as the beach was mentioned a few posts earlier.
Id argue the points you make about effort but dont really want to get into a **** slinging contest.

Effort' is only a small component that makes up performance. Effort is also a completely different variable to desire. The two can effect each and other and be influence by multitude of other variables. Understanding the dynamic nature of performance and motivation is an important element of coaching hence the suggestion of basic sport psychology. In my experience, non-specific negative reinforcement is rarely effective. Hence the suggestion that extra running would not be the way i would look to influence 'effort'

True, Effort is different from desire, but desire generates effort, and so on and so on.

Fair to say that extra laps were the order of the day back when I was playing, I can remember being forced to run laps directly after a game because we had a ten goal lead at 3/4 time and let it slip to a four goal victory, coach not happy, ran some laps, was left in no uncertain terms that we needed to finish games off.

But, I can also appreciate that it is a different climate now and players are not all the same and some can respond and some not.

Different methods motivate and have different effects on different people - some people respond better to getting flogged on the track and will bounce back, but others this late in the season will just crack the sooks and could be worse.

Personally i'm a fan for bit of a tougher week on the track to snap the complacency out of people and make them re-focus.

I hear Greenacres Football Club will again this weekend exchange their Green and Black Guernseys for Pink and Black in support of The National Breast Cancer.
Six years in a row , lets hope for a big crowd at Hicks Park and they dig deep and support this worthy cause. Great to see Businesses getting behind Greenacres and this charity and sponsoring two sets of new guernseys every year. Awesome effort Greenacres you ought to be Congratulated =D> =D>

I mentioned it a few pages but no-one took a bite. Team of the year nominations?
Only one round to go, most positions would be stitched up.

Maybe we should argue it out line by line.

Lets start with the forwards:

My nominations would be

FP: Aloisi (BL) Highest goalscoring small/medium fwd in the comp
FF: Sh Scudds (GG). Most dangerous and potent big forward. Only played 12 games but 59 goals in that time is a massive return.
FP: Dantini (CBOC) or Copley (Poor). Id lean toward Dantini. Shining light for CBOC in an otherwise dark year. Good movement for a bigger guy. Copley deserves a look in due to Goals kicked and holding down the key post for pooraka.

HF: Kastrappi (Plym) or Oliver (GG). Similar games played, similar goals kicked. Oliver probably pushes through the middle more but Kastrappi is an elusive high forward. Could go either way.
CHF: James Clark Ratansa (BL): Great focal point from a finals bound side.
HF: Sykes (GG). Alongside Wellington and Dunkley, one of the most potent goals scoring mids in the comp. Will finish top couple in GG BnF

Thoughts?

See Brahma Lodge coach Carey Payne played on Saturday in the B grade and kicked a lazy 10, in what was apparently his farewell game!!

Also heard that Pultney may be a big chance this week as the Lodge look to rest a few players before the finals......maybe Payney will play another farewell game ;)
