Direct my thinking...
Smithfield are now disqualified from the season, so we're told
That makes 9 teams in the competition yeah?

Now the results and victories gained by smithfield are irrelevant from round 16 onwards, so we're told?

So if smithfield are out, shouldnt everything theyve done this year go unrecorded (no offense meant towards smithfield) because now some clubs have defeats or wins against a side who have been excluded as a potential victor of this competition

Should really, for the sake of equality to every other team in the comp, that every game this season be removed from the calculations of where each team stands today on the ladder. Expand this thought further to the league medal count, if the houghton ruckman got votes against smithfield, but this week when the ingle farm favourite gets no chance to get his votes against smithfield, dont we therefore have an inequality towards the medal victor as well as the premiership victor?

FWIW though, I hope Smithfield can get it sorted out - if not this season then for next. Was only a few years ago they were very competitive in Div 5 IRRC, then we all know about the struggles they had with the player exodus. They have fought hard to get back to the position they were/are in this season surging towards finals.

I personally was looking forward to seeing them clash this week with Ingle Farm, was interested to see how they went because I thought they may be a smoky in the finals.

.. now back to the cricket to hurl abuse!

My thought would be last two games recorded simply as a forfeit. Games that have been played should stand as is - votes, goals etc. It's no different than if a they had turned around and forfeited the next 2 games off their own back.

Unfortunate for sides playing against them who might've got goals or votes, but spare a thought to the Smithfield F.C I think they are and the good folk there are suffering more than some medal hopeful..

Contact someone from the club, anything anyone says on here would just be speculation/heresay and may not be entirely accurate, could cause more harm than not..

Yeah a massive kick in gutz for all especially the volunteers of their club

But if the last games are counted as forfiets then doesnt their position on the ladder still stand, and therefore have the right to play finals

Else if their standing is now excluded on the ladder, and theyre not permitted to play finals, arent we really saying that there are only 9 teams in this competition, and therefore to protect the mathematical integrity of calculations between the remaining nine teams, shouldnt final ladder standings be based on the 16 matches each club played against the every other club in the comp

Cos one club might hav got pumped by smithfield and another wins on forfiet, and cos of the loss to team A, they now lose a home final, and possibly go out in straight sets instead of winning a flag

Things like this cause a ripple effect. I'm not complaining at all, but it's likely our B Grade's 1st final would have been at Smithfield (or neutral) against Flinders Park. Now it looks like we will be playing at Flinders Park.

It goes on.......fair likelihood Flinders Uni didn't have the same intensity on the track this week. All of a sudden, shit...we need to step up again.

The integrity of the ladder standings aside for a second

In regards to the medal count....

Lets say when houghton played smithfield in round 11, houghton ruck cam schultz scores 3 votes in the medal. Now this week when nick lynch from ingle farm gets his chance to play smithfield, he cant get a vote cos the game has been called off. Now when cam shultz wins the league medal by 3 votes to runner up nick lynch, you guys at ingle farm hav missed out cos houghtons bloke has been given 'an extra game'

If this happens I doubt any ingle farm bulldog will be at ease

Also don't think Lynch will be Ingle Farms top vote getter, in fact I'll go as far as to say he wont be in the top 3..

Q back to the ladder integrity...

In round 11 houghton was defeated by smithfield

Thats a loss for u by a team that is no longer being considered in the final standings of the competition

Now 2 weeks ago flinders park also lost to smithfield, but now, it seems flinders park will recieve a victory for this. are u seeing the inequality yet?

Look further, what if now houghton will hav to play a final against flinders park at flinders park?

Follow the pattern yet? As xrunna mentions, the ripples could burn clubs due to an inequality of calculations

Why should Houghton be entitled to the 2pts? They were beaten fairly on the day by a better team, because Smithfield are no longer in contention doesn't mean a side that hasn't earnt it should suddenly be gifted the 2pts.
