Of FFS, this latest re-hash with the top-up players makes my blood boil.
It just proves how desperate Whicker and his gang are to get their precious Crows in the SANFL.
On the one hand, Trigg threatens to take his players and run to the SAAFL then within hours, he's rejigging his sick plan in another desperate bid to gain acceptance so he can stay with the SANFL.

But it doesn't change a thing!
It doesn't change the fact that a kid like Rory Laird can spend 10 years coming up through the ranks at West Adelaide, have red and black running through his veins, get drafted by the Crows and suddenly spend the next two or three seasons at SANFL level playing against them.
And it doesn't solve any of the other countless problems with the proposal that all add up to this destroying the integrity and the very fabric of the SANFL competition.
They can tweak this thing until it turns pink.

BUT YOU CAN'T POLISH A TURD!

A board member has asked for members' opinions on Sturt's Facebook page - hey, it's something! Get on there Sturt supporters and vent your spleen!

Listened to the 'interview' with Kochie and the other two last night on 5AAFL. Had potential to be really passionate and informative but descended into playground stuff which was quite embarrassing to both parties.

Kochie couldn't articulate why Port needed to keep its zones and junior development structures other than a desire to be seen to be part of the community, and because Collingwood are thinking about doing it too. Rowey's counter argument as to why Port should abandon its structure and become a stand-alone team was 'just because'. It went like that for 5 minutes and added precisely nothing to the debate.

The question I would have like posed to Kochie is, apart from tradition and community (both very noble things BTW) WHY would the club want to keep those structures in place if the highest a Port junior could aim for is to play reserves for a reserves team, or maybe, just maybe be one of 5 top-up players? Hardly much of an incentive I would have thought.
"A no vote from any club means there is some sort of risk involved in our entry into the competition not working," Steven Trigg.

Clubs that vote NO will get my money and I'll be taking my own booze and food to Prospect Oval if North vote yes.

I haven't heard the sanfl or crows mention the potential detrimental financial impact of the proposal. If it costs the crows $500k to run the team, isn't that a $500k drop in potential dividends?

I would have thought with the tens of thousands of dollars these clubs spend on "study" trips they would have travelled to WA or Victoria and returned with a whole lot of compelling FACTS as to why the inclusion of afl reserves has been good for the local comps. Maybe at least one positive might help a proposal.

Advertiser wrote: Trigg now will meet with all SANFL clubs to find a top-up model that would win approval at the directors’ table and retain the Crows’ link to the SANFL.

Play in the SANFL reserves.

Advertiser wrote: “We’re taking that model off the table — and we will listen to the SANFL club on what they want to do,” Trigg told The Advertiser on Wednesday night.

How about playing in the SANFL reserves?

Advertiser wrote:“We appreciate this is a sensitive issue. But we need direction from the clubs on what is suitable.

We would be happy for you to play in our seconds competition.

Advertiser wrote: “We want to integrate with the SANFL clubs — we want their input.

We think the SANFL reserves would be a perfect fit for you.

Advertiser wrote:“We will have a support team playing somewhere next year and while we want it to be in the SANFL league competition, if that doesn’t work out then it will be in the Amateur League rather than the VFL or NEAFL.

Surely, the SANFL reserves is a better standard than the SAAFL?

Advertiser wrote:“In terms of quality of competition, the big bodies, access, no travel, there are a whole range of reasons for this, so that’s what we would do.’’

Isn't that reason to go into the SANFL reserves?

 It makes too much sense.

The money saved doing this can be spent on paying Reserves players more to keep them in the SANFL system. Therefore you'll have the bigger bodies, the players just out of 18's will be fast tracked in their development.

Unfortunately, it makes too much sense. Will never happen.

X4, ill even up the ante and say that if North vote yes, and Norwood no, ill jump ship, no north membership, but ill buy a Norwood one and even attend their first home game of the season (bonus points if its against North as i will hope norwood win! )

i probably wont attend many more games after that, ill spend my time on other hobbies, or go watch Peake more often, maybe even take them up on the offer to be a trainer out there, the cash will go straight back over their bar. ill only have a cursory interest in North from then on.

love how several other clubs have announced members info nights, or at least promised communication on the issue. North is just a flat out "why would we consult you, the members??" leaves a lot to be desired :?

lol, i dont think i could face my mates from school and tell them all those years of bagging them as centrals supporters didnt mean anything and i was now one of them ;) that and Norwood have coopers.

i reckon i agree with others above, ill buy a membership for each No voting club. the Mrs might not be happy with me spending that much, but too bad. ill even email North to tell them exactly why im not renewing, and what i will do with my time in future. im sure the mallee league and Peake will love the increased bar turnover with me there every week

fine with me, i dont believe in idle threats. ill even post a photo with my collection of memberships if you need proof. as it stands ill only have one to Norwood and one to CDFC. any other club seems to be speculation at this point.

actually on that, will the result of the vote be made public? will we know how many for and against, and who voted which way? or will we just get told the result, it got passed/rejected with no naming and shaming? will the clubs that try (or succeed) in selling the sanfl down the river have the balls to front the public and admit it? or will they try to hide their betrayal?

Maybe the Crows PLan B is actually to play in our reserves, but if they communicated that now then there would be no chance of getting into the league comp.

So the SAAFL is a bluff/3rd option. And if we reject the league proposal they will then negotiate the reserves option.
