More info regarding the new deal below:

Dear Clubs,

It is with excitement that we announce our new Naming Rights Partner for SA Amateur Football League. This is a first for the League and comes with many benefits to all Clubs. From 2014 Channel 9 will have presence at one game per round to promote SAAFL. Channel 9 community staff will help run your BBQ, or promote your club with an upcoming event, or run a handball competition etc. This attendance will give excellent exposure to clubs and attract new crowds. There will be a lot of videoing captivating our clubs and players during the partnership, again great branding for clubs. There will be SAAFL T.V ads that will play during the season promoting grassroots football and scores will be announced on the weekend news.

As we head in to 2014 we will be working closely with Channel 9 to coordinate next year’s presence and events. Stay tuned for what is going to be a magnificent ride!

As I said earlier exciting stuff and great PR for the SAAFL......now lets wait and see the who the first malcontent to only see the downside of this news is...

I reckon the exec would be ensuring he doesnt, apparently Gino is in strife yet again for saying too much 1. at a Gepps Cross game and 2. to a football writer :)

over summer the indigenous channel had the Alice Springs Footy League on during the day

the standard was about as good as div 5 footy at times, but it was the best thing on TV

goes to show if theres footy on, people will watch it (footy = ratings)

Think there may be a fair bit of gov subsidising of that coverage, though.
NITV is a community station and has different priorities to commercial networks.
And how many people really watch it on a consistent basis, rather than find it by accident and watch it as a curiosity?

I hope not. Surely this can only give the league more exposure than is currently being given?

Surely they can give it a run on one of the other 9 channels (i.e. Gem or Go). I think they'd have a good audience, even if it's only the players and their families watching.

Too small a market. Not saying it won't happen.
However, one of the arguments for dropping the ABC coverage of SANFL and other state comps was that they didn't want to cover sports that were only being watched by "their families". Translate that to SAAFL and there's an even smaller pool of "families" watching.

Good call.

Perhaps I'm a bit of an optimist, but I'd be glued to the TV if there was a SAAFL Div 1 game on, regardless of who was playing.

As I previously mentioned, I'd be rapt if there was a new Grassroots footy show too, maybe airing late on a Friday night somewhere? Wishful thinking I know, but it would be great.

Aaaw shucks, thanks kids 8)

Anything is possible - the Ballarat League have their own show that goes to air straight after The Footy Show on Thursdays.

Not sure if anything like that is in the mix for us though...

I hope they at least consider it, because I miss watching it.
