Shows how far the Bays have slipped ... fairly similar to the effort in the first match at Alberton this year when they went down in a similar manner, but not many were satisfied with the effort at the time.

Fast forward 4 months and a similar effort is somewhat lauded.

No doubt a better effort and there was a noticeably increased desire and some semblance of a game plan.

Can't fault the attack on the ball but basic skill errors cost dearly.

Port played in a similar manner and although relieved to win, shouldn't be happy with that performance.

Overall an enjoyable day despite the result.

Bays next win will probably be against North at Prospect in late August

You know one of those games North always seem to drop against sides below them on the ladder

It's on a Sunday too.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Other than being a tight contest it was a pretty average spectacle. SANFL umpiring showing traces of AFL influence with any type of disposal of the ball being good enough if you are tackled, quite a few throws not penalised. They really do want you to move the ball at all costs.

this rule which has suddenly disappeared is ruining one of the great aspects of the game - tackling. the tackler is no longer rewarded, yet a slight tackle that may hit the shoulder will be given for too high

I dont mind them giving the benefit of the doubt to the ball carrier, getting a free kick as a tackler should be bloody tough.

the problem I find is that even when the tackler does the right thing, the ball carrier incorrectly disposes of the ball - play continues......disgraceful

Terrible game of footy, Glenelg were clearly the better side and should have won. Trembath up to half time and Kirkby all day were excellent. Beard has been arguably the best CHB this season but he was clearly beaten by Kirkby. The umpiring although it didn't favour any side was terrible, Lally seemed scared to blow the whistle in the first half and some of his decisions showed he needs to go back to the reserves and deBoy, I can not see how he is an AFL rookie umpire he is shocking, always misses the first free kick and pays the second or third. I think he did the GF last year, that shows how poor the level of umpires are.

Does anyone know the official crowd figure for the game? It wasn't reported in the Sunday Mail or Monday's Advertiser.
