Have been very impressed with Mark. He has good skills, is a reliable kick and has shown a good level of aggression in ruck and field play. Quite happy for him to take over from Parry next year although he will need support which I believe the club is already on to.
Pleasing win yesterday as I rate CD highly in those conditions and we needed a response from the feeble effort last time against CD in those conditions as well as after the WA gams last week.
Would not want to take Sturt lightly next week!

The good form of Borholm continues to be very encouraging, but with the injuries racking up plus having Grocke, Culley and Staple out for a variety of reasons, now Hall and Rowntree..... 4th or 5th is looking about it come the Finals.
The last two games against Norwood then West will most likely determine our double chance chances
It's now going to be interesting to see if Day will come back into the league side with a new and improved attitude because for most of the season, if not all, he's looked like he should be playing with the Thunderbirds or Glenelg!
It really stood out yesterday that the Dogs are still a very solid, honest team who crack in and make you beat them, no quarter given. It's just that they don't have the $ recruits to dominate when the opportunities present, so their just like us now  See you in the Finals!
Rumour Mill Time ;)
Who was the sun tanned, very tall guy loitering around the Eagles rooms pressing the flesh?
We hope the club invites some smaller midfield types along to games later in the season also, it's never too early with the Spectre of AFL lurking :snakeman:

How did Batley and Martyn go?

Agree re comments on Borholm. He has improved hugely with the extra responsibility. His first two games earlier in the year were terrible, but has become the player we needed him to be.

Appleton, Dunstan, Karpany all in best players in the Reserves and would be itching to get their chance. Nice to have the Reserves playing so well.

Looking in to the crystal ball, can't afford to drop any of the next three games against Sturt, Glenelg, South. Hoping Norwood beat West and then if Central beat West it will come down to last game at Richmond for 3rd spot regardless of what happens in other games. If West win either of their games against Norwood or Central, we'll need to beat North or Norwood as well.

Most importantly for the Eagles, Ellis-Yolmen showed he might be able to hold down CHB. Hopefully, we get Luke Thompson back from the Crows for FB next week. Raymond, a great game.
Thought against Westies we looked insipid with too many undersized players - Poole, Hall, the Power's Kane Mitchell. All handy players but we should only carry one of them. Mitchell gets possessions but doesn't hurt the opposition, Poole, a strong insider but doesn't break free Hall, does damage when free but goes missing when closely checked. Looked better yesterday when only Poole was present (with Hall getting hurt early). Thought Batley and Martyn were reasonable for their first games in 1-2 seasons.
Good to see the unheralded Summerton, Batley, Martyn given chances in recent weeks rather than the easier option of bringing back Joyce each time.
Looks like time is running out for Kirk and Grocke. Do we wrap them up to be cherry-ripe for 2014?

Think Dunstan was wearing Carey's number in the two's and may have got reported .
I like Karpany and Roberts return added a great deal of pace in the seconds .
The Sinor brothers had been impressive before yesterdays game they could be pushing for selection as well !!

I think Wedgetail was alluding to the 6'5'' suntanned gentleman pressing the flesh.
Dunstall was reported.
Chris Hall had an op. early Sat. evening and was texting team mates back at the club after the op.
Batley and Martyn performed reasonably well but both seem to panic under extreme pressure.
Joe Sinor has been playing very good consistent footy in the 2's, but Luke Dunstan has to be given a league game soon.
Would like to see Riley Knight given a reserves game, has been playing extremely well in the U18s after an excellent U18 national carnival.

A tough game with a team picked for the conditions that probably didn't eventuate. Agree we need to pick our best, and leave Hardy forward. Well done to the Eagles.

I thought the game was a terrific, hard slog with some outstanding tackling from both teams. :)
That wind was cold!!

Good result for the Eagles - Port losing, helps Centrals.
We will play Dogs in Elimination Final, one thinks.
Hopefully that will also be a tough game :D

Have some faith LEH Eagles are in the battle for 3rd spot !! The only side the Eagles haven't beaten in the five this year is West .
West play Norwood next week Eagles play Sturt.

RB wrote:Good to get the win against a good side. I thought Raymond played one of his best games for us. Boyd was everywhere for Central. Not only does the win put us a game or two above Central, but we're once again level with West. With three relatively easy games coming up, hopefully we'll get three wins and some percentage and be in a good position for a double chance berth.
