Why, the ECB has pre-sold tickets for Sunday.
They want the crowd through the gates, plenty of time left.
If they were in a hurry they would of made us follow on and it would of been over by now

Jimbo your probably right. Should declare soon as rooter gets a ton

If England do that it will be a draw. Would be a stupid move, should make the aussies take the field again to get rooters ton and unsettle the Aussie openers not given them the luxury of having a tea break to prepare.

Who is that directed at? Batsmen entitled to stand his ground which he did and was given not out what do you expect Bell to do walk of for no reason? Come on......

For as long as i've played cricket, it is protocol for a batsman to walk if a fieldsman has claimed it has carried.
We all know TV replays are distorted when showing whether a ball has carried or not and almost always in these circumstances the batsman will get away with it.
To me it's completely NOT within the spirit of the game to stand your ground and question the integrity of the fieldsman. You'll get a lot more respect by walking off and hey, the 3rd ump can still check the replay and IF it conclusively shows it hasn't carried, call him back and the fieldsman then has to live with the consequences.
Players at the elite level have a responsibility to uphold the spirit of the game and to set a fine example for the future generations of the game.

a few things. Opening the Bowling with Watson, would dent the confidence of Pattison no end, same with Smith bowling before Agar.
Next test what?
Play Starc, confidence smashed from being dropped,
Play Lyon, confidence smashed from being dropped
Batting is no better with or without Cowan, confidence smashed
Agar will be dropped next test, confidence smashed

We have a squad where at least 5 blokes have low to zero confidence in their ability.
England have 1, that is the difference.

Stumps on day 3

England 333/5

Root 178*

England lead by 566

I'd say the plan will be to let Root make a quick 22 tomorrow morning before sending the Aussies in, hopefully having a wicket or 3 down by lunch.

looks like we're rooted! Pattinson doesn't seem to do anything with the ball, drop him for Starc, at least he's something different to mundane right hand over. pitch the ball up & tempt them to drive, we're losing, so who cares if we get driven down the ground a lot, at least we might get wickets with a bit of movement off the pitch from a pitched-up ball. anyone remember Alderman?

Told you they would bat until tomorrow.
With no bad weather on the horizon they know we can only last 3-4 sessions tops.
They want to grind us into the dirt, will probably bat for an hour and let Root get his 200.
The ECB are making a mint off this test, they will be hoping it goes into Day 5
