Offload the licenses and tell them to **** off.

Doesn't the sanfl stand to make lots of money out of the clubs at Adelaide oval, irrespective of the license....

Hopefully, I dont understand how that would change with or without the licenses though?

Which was my point. Wedgie seemed to be saying if the sanfl don't own the licenses they don't make anything.... and presume the follow on was it didn't matter if they were strong or not.

Even now they make millions each each that are not direct license revenue.

This is the editorial from this weeks FOOT-e TIMES SA

PROPER RESEARCH NEEDED

Firstly thanks to the 524 of you that took part in our AFL Reserves survey over the past week.

The survey has now closed and results are being looked at.

Full details will appear in next weeks edition and as promised we will send all comments with the result to the SANFL clubs.

In summary, the recent survey confirms the one FOOT-e TIMES SA did back in April.

It suggests that there will be a very significant drop off in support, especially among the most loyal members, if the SANFL introduced AFL reserves sides into the league competition.

So what to make of this?

If our survey is indeed a true sample of the feelings across general SANFL club members then the league will have a major problem in 2014 with AFL reserves included.

It could well face a similar drop in support to that experienced when the Crows entered the AFL in 1991.

However, ours was not a scientific survey, we put it out to our readers and those who felt like it took part.

As those opposed to change are often the most vocal does this mean there are only a few hundred against any changes and the rest are the silent majority?

The fact is no one knows and there is a lot of unproved conjecture in the debate about this.

The best solution is to involve a unbiased professional market research company to conduct a proactive & proper scientific survey among club members.

It is the only way decision makers will get a true feel for what ramifications may lie ahead,

Yes, this research work will take some time and cost money.

But the expense is minimal relative to the cost to the SANFL of making a bad decision based on educated guesswork.

This is what a professional business undertaking major change would do with its customer base, & it is what should be done here.

According to the Adelaide Crows, the SANFL clubs and supporters need 'educating'. No, we don't, we can even spell big words like, Machiavellian and Expedient. Kleva we is.

Phil make a request for an interview with Foot-e Times so he can clarify exactly what he means by educating the SANFL? I bet he declines even though the rest of the time he is happy to "court" the media?

We have already seen them gain an SANFL recruit on the basis of being offered employment by the AFL arm, and the lure of getting fast tracked into the AFL system would be an advantage they could offer to any prospective recruit.

Ports proposal stated they would be banned from recruiting ex-AFL players and also banned from recruiting outside their zone. So it would literally be Port AFL listed players and Port juniors.

Which is why I don't understand why it was shot down so quickly and why the SANFL directors prefer the Crows model. Ours has minimal intervention for the other SANFL clubs, we relinquish part of our zone, all of our dividend and don't recruit from anywhere except Ports zone. Instead we'll be left with 2 AFL clubs picking fill in players on who knows what basis (what happens come finals time?), holding training camps in opposition zones each week.

I don't get it. Not like we have a choice now anyway.

Macca - I'm sure no matter what Port says it will give up and not do etc. etc. won't last as per it's claims re "one club"!

The Port Adelaide Football Club has shown itself to be not one you can trust or believe. Even your new Chairman has lied and changed re the Reserves debate since taking office including lying to Hinkley and promising him a Reserves Team. Kochie would have or should have known that meant "killing" the Magpies only he wants the SANFL to do it because he is gutless but maybe not living in SA for years he probably doesn't really have a clue about SA Football. He is a media "wind bag" chasing ratings!

If that quote is accurate then he should be ashamed of himself.

What a wanker. By all means, "educate" us. It won't make this proposal any better. A competition with integrity > money.

No - f..k him! His words amd backed up by his intent were insulting to everyone involved in SANFL Football and he needs to be educated and apologise for his condesending comments!

The whole SA Football fabric does not revolve around 2 AFL Clubs and their selfish wants no matter what spin and bribe $$$ they offer.

For the last three to four weeks FOOT-e TIMES SA have been chasing the Crows for public input into this debate.

We offered them free space in our issue last week to put their case to our readership which is SANFL club members.

We committed to publishing it word for word as provided, without change, interpretation or editing.

All other stakeholders provided something, AFC just a "we can't comment it's confidential."

And now they propose that those SANFL fans who have concerns (many legitimate considering the gap in detail required) need "education"

How do you learn from a Brick Wall?
