All ovals will be the same. Its a shame some council curators will be over zealous on their protection of their ovals and some won't be. Why don't we all have the weekend off and push the season's end back by a week?

you kidding right??? Mitcham's oval is one of the worst in the league as soon as a drop of water goes on it...

There will be very few ovals that will be pristine, any oval within cooee of the beach tend to hold up well, everyone elses will be at varied degrees of cactus-ness.

i was more alluding to that not many ovals would be in Mitchams conditions...
BUt any ground with turf pitch in the middle are obviously the ones in the worst condition.

I could name 4 or 5 off the top of my head.

Mitcham, Modbury, TTG, Pulteney, Lutheran.

Ours is ok - but it's getting there.

Plymptons has always held up pretty well. It has alot of sand through it so it doesn't get awfully muddy. Ours on the other hand is terrible but you play with the cards your dealt with.
WUB12 I see you and Unley are the only clubs who's ground runs the right way yeah :)

It hasn't been deemed unsafe for use, but the council has requested we don't play on it. We've been trying to find an alternative oval that's relatively close that we could use but haven't had much luck. Everyone not using their oval want to give theirs a rest which is understandable. At this stage games will be played at home - enjoy ;)

With 6 Junior and 5 Senior sides being fielded ...the foot traffic has fairly chewed up the oval surface compounding the problem of copping a "months" worth of wet Saturday's making the Bartley Tce Oval the worst it has been for a long time the season compared to the last few years.
I am guessing for most their ovals they are just not getting time enough to recover with the amount of rainfall recently let alone the wet weekends on game days...

The Athelstone Vs Unley game was good game to watch not much in it all day with Athelstone just getting over the line.

the funny thing was the umpires where in orange and so where Unley.

so if the Amateur league organised these jumpers for unley good to see they are on the ball. Dont the Amateur League officals realise there umpires where orange?

I don't think blaming the league here is warranted. Unley rocked up without any clash jumpers, A or B, and wearing the wrong colour shorts. With the help of Athelstone the league was contacted and the league delivered 2 sets to the ground, one set arrving at 12.10pm, before a second set arrived later. Pretty good effort from the league for this. Probably the last sets available with such a late rush. Thanks should go to Tony S at the league office for doing the running around.

From what I heard today Scotch will be very very hard to stop in September. Stranger things have happened but from the reports I got that is a real good unit. Hope we get another crack but they showed their class today
