SANFL Interchanges

Postby Wedgie » Sun Jul 14, 2013 10:34 am

Read an interesting article in the Saturday Advertiser about the number of interchanges each club makes.
Not sure we can read anything into it or not with the Top 3 being Port, Norwood and Glenelg and North being bottom as obviously Norwood are travelling pretty well as are North who have the best 2nd halves in the competition.

Interchanges per game:
Port 93
Norwood 88
Glenelg 82
Central 79
Eagles 77
West 73
South 69
Sturt 63
North 56

League Average:
2009 34
2010 46
2011 50
2012 57
2013 77 ( after round 13)

No no I like these stats too.:D

Port - the most interchanges yet least tackles per side by far this year (33.5). They're way behind the league average of 46.3 and the next worst team is West with 42.9.

Maybe hard sprinting to the interchange bench for ridiculous one-minute rest rotations could be saved by more hard sprinting to tackle their opponents?

I find the increases from year to year very interesting! Would be interested to see if changing coaches has significantly increased or decreased the way a team has done it

I find our interchanges very annoying this year. Yesterday in the third quarter Boydy sprinted off from the centre of the oval after a whole 1:56 played and Boydy not being in the play. Against port I reckon it cost us with 3 players coming off at once, playing short port kicked a goal. I wish the players would look at where the ball is as opposed to the time on the clock.

Love this - 'I see your interchange stat and I raise you a tackle stat!' :D

Last week I heard a stat that the Dogs have the most hit outs, or average the most, in the league. Yet have the least clearances.
