It's the umpires job to give people out.

Exactly. IMO Broad has every right to stay there seeing as the umpire gave it not out, I would do the same. That is a f**king sh!thouse decision though, poor umpiring but that's cricket.

We have to bounce back from it and looking forward to day four where we must take these last four English wickets. I'm busy tonight and won't be watching so hopefully we'll have some luck, get ourselves back into the game and chase down the target to win the match. Looks like a pretty good pitch to bat on now, our top order must stand up.

Sorry Am Bays but just because Clarke wastes a review doesn't excuse the umpire from doing his job.
Yeah, we are part to blame, now give the umpire a deck chair, sunshade, martini and a pair of sunglasses, he's got the rest of the afternoon off.....
Reading through this thread, there'd appear to be a couple of LBWs also not given after the wasted review.
And on that review system....if the umpire gives it not out and the review shows half a ball hitting leg stump so the umpire's call stands, does this count as a "wasted review"?
Likewise, if a batsman is given out and we use a review that shows a bees dick of the ball snicks the edge of leg stump so again the umpire's call stands, is that also deemed a "wasted review"?
Only asking because one of those is more obviously out than the other but we are expected not to challenge the decision, even if the technology itself shows it was probably wrong.

Bullshit, I don't like Broad but I'm not going to criticise him for not walking.

I would have felt the same if it went to the keeper, but it went to first slip.

You do realise that the only reason it went to first slip was because the ball deviated off Haddin's gloves don't you

On the replays from directly behind the umpire it is obvious why it was given not out as broads bat blade was open and the ball hit the back edge which was facing directly away from dar. Then the deflection off Haddin's glove was the only visible one from the umpire angle.

This is the reason DRS was introduced not for LBW appeals when the ball is going miles down the leg side so maybe they will think twice about wasting reviews in the future

At the end of the day Australia had the umpiring advantage on day 2 with the Agar stumping, root caught behind and trott LBW so nothing is ever perfect

They are wasted because the system is only designed to to overturn howlers not 50/50 decisions which is what the LBW decisions you are describing are.

For me, this is about walking.
Whether you walk or not is a choice and it's up to every batsman to make that choice.
If I was a Test batsman, I wouldn't walk on a little snick. But that was a big, thick edge - I'd be thinking to myself that's too obvious, I'd be a prat to stay.
If Broad can justify that decision and live with it, good on him.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Just because you have 2 referrals to use, doesn't mean you need to use them. A smart captain, like Cook, should keep one up his sleeve at all times, to use it for what it was implemented for.

Yet to see the fielding side call a batsman back that has been given out incorrectly.

Exactly can't believe people are caning Broad

Will love to see if the same people cane an Aussie batsmen if they don't walk next innings

I would think the review system give players more reason than ever to not walk

If you feather one to the keeper, sure stand your ground, but when you square cut one to first slip...you just walk.
Broad the cricket gods are not going to look favourably on your shocking decision to not walk.

Really I would say it doesn't matter whether u smashed it or u tickled it as to whether u walk or not infact not walking when u tickle one is more devoius as u know the umpire may not of heard it where when u smash it the umpire shouldn't make the error

I'm with Broad, never walked when we had a paid umpire
