Whats English soccer got to do with the question I asked?

Maxyoz put the question a better way than I did, sorry if I confused you all.

If South were to get say 683 out of a crowd of 1942 to a home match, dont you think it would ring some sort of alarm bells upstairs as to how the club could market the next home day better, some how or other I think that if they see the crowd as 1942 then they think that they are doing a great job of getting people to attend match day, what it really tells them is that the opposition is supplying most of the crowd which is not good for South and the area, in the total crowd there could be 178 neutral football followers so that paints another picture for clubs to look at.

Marketing and selling the game is what the clubs are in need of, mind you winning home games goes along way towards your home crowds increasing.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

So what you are saying is we'd need 648 Weslo staff to surround the South supporters at each home match?

If they don't use the allocation they go back for sale to the home team, vice versa if they need more away tickets the home team can release some ending numbers. Always a accurate figure of away v home fans....

So if less away tickets are sold do they move the fence making the away fans' area smaller in order to allow more home fans in?

Not usually a fence in England.
They use police in the Aisles to secure off a section

As a Fulham supporter I have been to an away game in Sunderland and the away supporters went in an away gate with lots of security around it and had our own bar, food and toilets and could not access the “home” part of the stadium. So it would be easy for the EPL to work out home and away fans at each game.

This was the only time I ever felt threatened at an EPL game even with the full bay and a line of security between us and the home fans. Best bit is I took the girlfriend (now wife) with me was one of our first dates.

I'd imagine the marketing gurus at various clubs would have some sort of educated estimates but really, what would they do with that information they wouldn't with the overall crowd figures?

It would end the debate on which clubs fans do or don't travel

Exactly.

South v Glenelg on Good Friday - Huge Crowd, Marketing Department say: Yep, we should play Good Friday every year. But was the crowd predominantly South Supporters, Glenelg Supporters or neutral supporters who had nothing else to do on Good Friday. So do they focus marketing dollars next year in local area to promote game or look more total suburban?

South v West end of June - poor crowd. Is it because the West fans don't travel, South fans saw it as a no-chance to win game so didn't turn up or lack of neutral supporters as it was expected to be a boring blow out like last time they played.

I think the days of "well people turned up and that was ok" are out the window. Marketing/ Membership departments at footy clubs are working harder than ever to get people to sign up and attend matches. The easy answer is: Just win more games, and they will sign up, but reality is only one team can win the Premiership and 5 can make the finals. Somebody has to lose and somebody has to come bottom. So how do we get supporters of those teams to put in sponsorship dollars, buy memberships and turn up to games?

Could just use how many season tickets each club has sold, compared to just home game tickets

I have 2 season tickets and 3 home match tickets for Glenelg, there are 3 people in my house. So that doesn't help.

The question has to be asked why 3 people have paid for 5 tickets?

Oh, and one of those is 14, so doesn't have to pay to get in.

Through sponsorship and supporting my club.

Ah, now im guessing here, so don't take offense if it's wrong.

The 2 season tickets are for you and your partner purchased in the form of memberships. And the 3 home match tickets come through the sponsorship side of things, where you pay $xxx and get some signage and stiff with a few tickets thrown in. Where the cljb wouldn't be overly concerned if they were used. Usually sitting in the boss' draw and handed out to customers or staff on a match by match basis.

Therefore I'd only count the 2 purchased via the membership option
