Have the Crows spoken to South about an 'alliance'?

Could South be the 'Joker' in the AFL Reserves Pack?
Can see the location as an advantage - Geographically away from Port, unlike the mooted WWTFC option?
Seriously asking.

One bloke summed up South perfectly,
"They are a country team trying to compete in the SANFL competition"
If you think about it he could have something in his statement

Not really, their facilites and financial set up are the envy of a number of clubs in the SANFL. A few players have been lured down to Noarlunga that other's were chasing.
Their problems stem from a very ingrained losing culture.
Bottom in 1963 but top in 1964 thanks to Kerley and a few others. It can be done again!

So what happened in '65? I know South were shortly bad again after that.

That too was a controversial finish. Late in time on David Kantilla appeared to take a mark in the goal square with South 1 point down. It wasn't paid, Bruce Jarrett took the ball got it across to Adcock, I think and Sturt went right around the boundary creating the loose man and goaled to win the match. Port then just held off a fast finishing Sturt to win the Grand Final by 3 points.

Three nice close finals games there. Tell me the first semi final was a hundred point thumping...

Then in 1966, South were once again a very good side. In the last minor round game Port had to beat South by about 22 points for Port to get the double chance. In a very torrid affair Port won by about 27 points and a bruised and battered South had to face a fresh North in the first semi. North won by about 3 goals.
Soon after Kerley resigned to become Glenelg coach and South went steadily downhill and by 1969 they were bottom again.
