There are issues at the Top. That is where it starts at South , not all the players can be blamed for this debacle. I too have heard that there will be a huge falling out if they are not careful.

The key is strong on field leadership. That drives a club more so than a coach.

Here we go !!

Let the madness begin at South !!!

Only 2 league players???? :?

I believe Tarquin Brown who played a number of league games earlier in the year has left South to play for Victor Harbor. I guess it happens a lot with fringe players, although I thought Brown's form wasn't too bad in a couple of games I saw him this year.

Yep he's gone back to what I'd guess you'd call his local club - handy player.
Stribling and Pfeiffer, however you spell it, have gone to East Gambier.
Many more at years end.... :(

According to noyrils in the APFL thread, he's gone to Hamley.

I can understand Brown and Pfeiffer leaving North when they did - they were handy reserves players at best but Stribling was mercenary in leaving after all the help North gave him after his off field issues when he was with Fremantle. As it has turned out he was back into old habits by all accounts not long after leaving Prospect and gave up a league spot at North for the stupid $$$ South offered. That hasn't been a good investment by the SAFC!

Southee I agree , I was told yesterday that they were going and there was one more BIG one that was on his way also. BUT he could not fit into their Points/ Salary at this stage however he will be gone at seasons end. In real strife IMO . They are also losing Juniors that we don't hear about and this is as big a problem as the Seniors.

Curtis Perrey left the club a few weeks ago too. Fringe player but very loyal over the years to the club and played some good games.

Stribling left North for more opportunities to play as an on baller as he probably didn't enjoy his footy as a tagger. Every week he was given the role to run with the competitions premier midfielders and infact became the leagues best tagger before switching to South. Fremantle drafted Stribling as a ball winning midfielder and South obviously saw that and persuaded him to make the move down South and gave him the opportunity to play onball. No different to Josh Kennedy moving to Sydney because he couldn't crack that Hawthorn midfield. So to say Stribling moved for $$ is a touch unfair. Has he been a good investment for SAFC? Runner up in the Knuckey Cup in his first season and top 3 or 4 in his second season. So I think SAFC would been happy with his input as he pulled his weight on the field.

Maybe but why was he dropped recently and has played off half back a fair bit this year - was that to do with issues on or off field?

Seeing that Striblings form on the field has been good you'd probably assume it was off field issues. But the off field issue seems to be the same with everyone that has left in the past few seasons. The Coach!

Everything about him being a tagger is true, but Stribling left just as a new coach, Francou had been appointed, and who is to say that he would have continued as a tagger under Francou. Remember it was the very defensively minded Healy who had him tagging. Given the massive improvement of a number of other midfielders at North under Francou, it would have been interesting to see how Stribling would have gone under Francou. I do know that North could not match South's payment to Stribling without getting into salary cap problems.

South therefore should have a huge gap in their salary cap which should enable them to very actively recruit next season.

As I understand it:

As Daniel has no junior/local club, he has sought to make Willunga his home club should he finish playing at South because this will makes his "points " value 0 instead of 4. Daniel is doing some work down there and has got to not a few from the club.

All good.

Would hope bass intends on staying on for a while longer! I think he has bit to offer the club! He along with Brooksby are a good ruck combo that will only get better in time.

You would expect he'd Baust his Orse in his first game at the club. How is your Tony Greig accent Big Phil?
