Rnd 13: Port v Eagles @ Alberton Oval (Sun 30/6)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Jun 24, 2013 5:42 pm

The Magpies almost could almost lay claim as being the form team of the competition over the last month, having knocked off North, Norwood and now Central out at Elizabeth, for the first time in ten years...

The Eagles, coming off the bye, will be very keen to try and get some consistency in their game as they battle out for that mid-tier spot on the ladder. They have been very up and down so far in season 2013...

With the three teams in Sturt, North and Glenelg having a bye this weekend, this game at Alberton almost challenges the Dogs v Legs for 'Match of the Round' status...

Central and Norwood have lost in the past 2 weeks, Port has not. Port must be the form team... ;)

Centrals v Norwood rightly the match of the round, however.

Port will go into this week confident against the Eagles despite the recent encounters at Alberton. You got them handy Phil? I think the Eagles might have won 3-4 of the last 5 at Alberton.

Ports spine, as I noted last week, looks strong with Raikiwasa and Beard as the bookends on the centre square. Makes for strong marking power and in the forward half allows Thurgood to play closer to goal, which I think he and the team would prefer.

Cant wait for this one.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

This weekend will be the Maugham Thiem Ford NAME GAME and personal identity will be on the line for both McGregor and Eagles coach Mick Godden.

The pair has agreed that the losing coach from this weekend’s match will change his name to Maughan Thiem for one week.

That means McGregor will need to sign his name as the club’s major backer in all of his work during the day as a journalist for News Limited.

Were the conditions heavy at Elizabeth last week and will it affect Pies? They do have an extra day to recover though. Eags coming off a bye have beaten Norwood this year.

This is the match of the round IMHO .. Port have the form and confidence, and I thought weren't far off beating the Eagles earlier in the year but weren't good enough/still adjusting to a new coach and style.

That said, the Eagles are normally at their best when their backs are to the wall (except that time they had to join another club).

Should be a great game.

The fall out from this game is huge, besides the losing coach being named Maughan Thiem for the week.

An Eagles win keeps them in touch with the top 3. A loss and they are equal with Port and in a scrap for a finals spot.

Port would have to go in favourites given their form.

If this was 2014 and Salter was in a Magpies guernsey, it might've made it tough, but I'll tip him to bag 6 this weekend and the Eagles to kick start their run to the finals.

No rack off, I'm sick of the soft attitude towards this mob who are all about only themselves and nowdays get a bit of sympathy because their a bottom club that's broke.
They got what they wanted by backdooring the SANFL and are lining up to do it again via sweet tongue Thomas.

I would not say PORT is the form team i would say the lucky team their last two games were won by 2 points and 5 points respectively in the dying seconds your big test will be the mighty Eagles. Beat the Eagles convincingly then you can say you are back.
SANFL 2000 - 2011 Central District 12 consecutive Grand Final appearances and 9 Premierships.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFF.

Hit em hard let them get up and hit em again.

So what margin do you have to win by for it not to be considered luck? When looking at form you look at the wins, and we have 4 from the last 4.

And a win on Sunday means beating 4 of the teams in the top 5 in this streak. But I guess that's just luck I guess.

so beating the reigning premiers and a side who has dmoinated over the past 13 years is luck???
i can't stand port, but that is a ridiculous statement!!!!
